The RAM is soldered in with now expansion sockets! Really Acer? So buy as much RAM as you can get because youre not adding any! It does have two M.2 SSD slots, so thats nice.

I bought this bad boy directly from Acer refurbished, so thats why this review isnt verified as purchased. I just want to clear up a misconception people seem to be having here.

This review is primarily for people who prefer GNU/Linux computer operating systems and are familiar with the process of installing such a system on a computer which comes with Microsoft Windows pre-installed.

We were looking for a great laptop at this pricepoint (around $1k) that would fit our needs in photo and video editing as well as have some room for other things. Needless to say, this laptop has fulfilled these needs and exceeded all expectations!

Acer released an update that caused my USB-C (which I need for connection to all my other peripherals) to stop working. I contacted support and they told me to factory reset (AKA delete all my data) and it might work. Since I have classwork due soon that I cannot delete, that is not an option. The rep told me it probably would not work anyway. I was then peddled a repair for $669.00 (for just a USB-C replacement) or told to hire a third party service (I forget their name now). Completely worthless company and I will absolutely never purchase another Acer product after seeing how little support they offer.

I did not receive a unit with Win10 on it, despite it stating Win10 in the specs. Ignoring that, it has a solid build and solid performance. I do hate the nuisances of Win11, its like a reskinned Win10, but with extra steps. Im keeping it for now as I need the laptop, but will remain slightly disappointed. I was hoping to skip this OS until the next one (Win12?), but Ill give it a shot a little longer.

I received the Acer Swift X from the Amazon Vine review program. The Vine targets offerings based upon my purchases and searches, and I had been looking at Macbook Air laptops when this was offered.
