24-04-2025I am a huge Apple supporter and have been since way before the iPhone. I had a MacBook Air with the old style scissor keyboard and it was a TANK. I only upgraded to this MacBook Pro as I got about seven years out of the old air. My wife has the old one and it is still a tank. Display and processing performance are awesome but the keyboard is just awful. I assume this is the butterfly keyboard as I think the new Magic Keyboard does not come on this model. Apple finally punted and is getting away from the butterfly style but now Im stuck with it. I had it less than a month when the N got stuck. I took it to the Apple store and they cheerfully offered up a repair which amounted to sending the computer away to have the keyboard replaced. Problem was I was 10 days without it. Furthermore, the associate at the store said that my computer had a redesigned keyboard and was not the older problematic keyboard. This is simply not true. My Mac is fixed now but the feel is awful. I will be stuck with this for a few years. I think you can tell the new Magic Keyboard as it brings back a hard ESC key. Mine only has the virtual key on the bar. Other than the keyboard, the Mac is awesome. However, they keyboard problems alone should make you STAY AWAY!!! I say this with peace and love but wait until the new design propagates through the entire MacBook line.

> 3 dayI really really wanted to love this laptop. Years of using MacBooks, and I’m finally asking myself why!? Don’t get me wrong, the laptop is quick, the software is everything you would expect, but between two sticking keys and it’s constant temperature hovering at an uncomfortable 120F, not while under load, or in an extreme environment. Watching YouTube TV, updating Excel sheets, in my 74F living room, not exactly taxing this quad core i5. This purchase has left me very disappointed, and I can’t justify upgrading from my 2014 MacPro.

Greater than one weekPurchased in August 2019. Machine has performed well, however I was unceremoniously told by Apple Tech Support to dont even try to upgrade to Big Sur since it takes 36.5 GB and there is no way I can free that up on this machine. I only have the Apple included programs plus MS Office Suite on the SSD and just that leaves me with inadequate space for Big Sur. BTW Big Sur consumes three times the storage space of its predecessor Catalina. Thanks Apple for screwing us with quick obsolescence.

> 3 dayThis is a fast and easy to use Mac. I switched to Macs about 10 years ago and glad I did. My MacAir in fact is 10 years old and still works beautifully! But its obsolete. Nothing wrong with it except it doesnt have what is needed to keep up with new technology. I was able to set it up and have it all happy to support me in an evening--takes a while to transfer information. The touch bar is not something that I thought I would be that interested in--but I can tell you right now that is is lovely and huge time saver. Also love the fingerprint used to log into various functions for security. S0 much easier--my daughters tried to tell me and I listened.

> 3 dayTypical of Apples laptops, its just good. This was an upgrade for an older Apple laptop that was a major workhorse. This one is proving to be just as capable and is my go-to device when I need to do just about anything.
