Astra Platinum Double Edge Safety Razor Blades ,100 Count (Pack of 1)

Was running low on my Personna 100 pack and decided to try a different brand. This was really only my third brand to try since I switched to DE blades, the first being whatever was available at Sallys. I had been happy with the Personna blades, but not terribly happy. I felt I wasnt quite getting the same experience others were when they talked about how much of a better and closer shave it was. If nothing else, it was adequate, and much, much cheaper than cartridges. The Astra blades though have renewed my faith in the effectiveness of the DE blade! It feels like I put in less effort to get a closer shave after just a few days. I shave my head and neck almost every day, but when I skip a day or two my hair grows to a point where, with the previous blades, I had to do multiple passes on the side of my head, usually a minimum of three. With the Astra blades they seem to do the job in a single, effortless go, with a second pass for good measure. On top of that I am getting a closer shave on my neck as well, and my neck isnt irritated at all anymore afterward. Personna was good, but Astra is great. I try to buy American when I can, but the superiority of the product falls to the Astra blade, sorry Personna, I gave you a shot.

These are OK, they are not as sharp as other blades. I can only use them once and after that its not the same shave you get like you do when you use it the first time. Wont buy again.

They work very well, get a very close shave when used with a shaving oil. Barely every cut myself, it will tug hair if your shaving form is bad! Comparing to the Super Stainless Straight Edge Barber Razor Blades, these worked much better for me as my beard hair is extremely thick!! Pretty much a cheaper Feather blade! :D Will probably order more in the future soon, these will last me about 1 year and 1/2 or more.

Ive bought quite a number of the variety packs which some of those blades work well. Based on the previous reviews for Astra Superior Platinum; sharp, excellent blades, etc, I have to say I am very disappointed. I dont think my face or whiskers are dense or hard to shave. I have always had close shaves over the past years, even testing the various blades. Sometimes you find the nice sharp blades, they just dont last but a few shaves. The Astra Superior Platinum blades dont even feel or seem sharp the 1st time I use them. I am on my 3rd blade now, 2 weeks shaving 5 days per week. Even with a brand new blade, part of my neck whiskers are barely touched. They are shorter in length, however they dont seem to grab those whiskers like most of the other blades do. I wouldnt recommend these blades at all, even with the very first shave. I use a boar hair brush and the same Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream which is excellent. No matter 100 blades for $9.00, I bought the blades based on reviews of how sharp the blades are. So with a Merkur DE razor I thought this blade was my solution. Not the case and Ive been using DE razors for about a year now. Not sure what I am missing here that all of these folks are RAVING about how sharp the blades are? Did I get a bad batch? Honestly with every other blade Ive used, the front part of my neck has always been cleanly shaven. With these blades stubble, stubble and stubble exists.

... And I now have a runaway new favorite. Ive been a double-edge/safety razor shaver off an on for my entire shaving life (~35 years and counting), and the Astras are just like no other blade Ive tried - and Ive tried many. Up until now, Ive been okay with Derby blades, but on a whim, and after reading so many positive reviews, I ordered these. From the very first stroke (using my somewhat new Edwin Jagger razor), I was amazed. Smooth, precise, and CONSISTENT. This latter comment is about the consistency-of-feel on both sides of the razor. With most every other blade Ive tried, especially the Derbys, one side of the razor would have a smoother, closer shave than the other. With the Astras, both sides are incredibly smooth-shaving. For durability, these seem completely average, and Im fine with that. I get five good shaves (my face doesnt present a difficult challenge for a blade) before I dump the blade into my recently-acquired Feather blade disposal case (GREAT way to deal with old blades), and load up another. Im now eager to try the Astra blades with some of my vintage Gillette razors. Im confident the shave will be like it has never been. Highly recommended.

I started using these blades about 60 days ago. I’ve used two blades and got 14 shaves from each side of both blades. That’s almost a month per blade! The shave is nice and clean, with no nicks or cuts. They’re a real bargain.

These things are awesome. Having to clean shave every day i have tried every single multiblade contraption out there. That crap is overrated and overpriced. After i started using a safety razor, all my shaving bumps are gone so it the rash. The blades that came with my razor were ok, but these Astras made a night and day difference. Definetly worth it

I enjoy these. I do wish they were a little sharper.

I have tried Feather, Gillette Platinum, Shark, Derby, and Merkur razors, but it is these Astra SPs that blow the competition out of the water. They are made by Gillette in Russia just like the Gillette Platinum blades, but these are affordable, sharp, and smooth. They work very well on my sensitive skin. I recommend these before any of the other blades that I have mentioned.
