Works well but makes some weird noises when opening and closing. Maybe im just paranoid. Also, the software that t comes with is completely useless, dont bother with it.

truthfully I have not yet used all of its features. I have no reason to doubt they will work as well as the basic dvd playing that I usually do.

Fast delivery. Excellent price. Its hard to evaluate this product as it simply works as expected of a CD/DVD RW drive. I have purchased ASUS products previously and have found them to be reliable and of good quality. Would recommend or buy again.

One of the best DVD burners ive ever used for several reasons: - It will read and extract data from DVDs that no other burner can read. Discs that are scratched or dirty can sometimes be recovered with this drive. Not always, but most of the time. - This has the fastest burn rates ive ever seen. I can often burn a full DVD-R in around 6 minutes. - It can rip non-copyrighted movies super fast. I doubt there is any such thing as a speed lock on this drive. - If you move to another country you can change its region code easily (a limited number of times). 2-8-17 UPDATE: This has extremely poor compatibility with older devices. You burn a disc and its nearly impossible to read it on old 16x IDE burners. Pioneer, LG, Lite-On and NEC drives. This is major if you do any sort of video production. Ive wasted so many discs with high quality media trying to fix this issue. Burning at slower speeds does nothing. Note: Its NOT the media itself. There is also zero firmware updates for the drive since ive had it. 9-6-19 UPDATE: I reinstalled this drive after not using it for awhile. It is an extremely bad drive when used for burning Taiyo Yuden TYG03 16X DVD-R media. I once had 3 discs fail in a row. Strangely it fails burns more often at a slower speed of 8x. Fails are usually random. My record is probably only 6 burns in a row. PS I did defrag my hard drive and this made no difference at all.

Very loud at times just as others reported. Regardless, the drive is fast and very reliable. The reading speeds are awesome regardless whether you are using a DVD or CD. Installation was a breeze and recognized by the board/system with no issues. Very cheap in price but even bigger in value.

A nice and sturdy DVD player burner. Quiet operation. Would purchase again.

Whyyyyy dont they ever package the cables you need WITH these drives? I totally forgot to check if theyre included, and was a bit disappointed when the drive came. Instead of ADDING another burner, I ended up replacing my old one with this. When I get around to eventually ordering more things on Amazon, Ill try to remember to get cables. Theyre too small and cheap to warrant their own shipment/order. SOME drives I see on here do include the $2 cables. Just not this one. The drive itself works good, is quiet etc. I can say it does NOT let DVDShrink run as well as a few other LEGAL copy software. It seems to block this function. I found a way to circumvent this issue, but...again, I shouldnt HAVE to. Its not Asuss job to police what software I run. I own my movie, I can make a back-up. I cant even back up my home movies with this drive. So once I get those pesky addl cables, Ill have two DVD burners, one that allows access to all software. Ive already left a separate review for shipping, but Ill mention it again: this item comes packaged only in a plastic bag that is not sealed. It was sent in my case, with aquarium filters, that leaked charcoal particles all over the inside of shipping box. I found that very unacceptable on Amazons part. Combined shipping is great, but not when you damage items to save money.

I cant believe how well this thing works with no noise or problems. I wish everything I bought was like this.

Bought multiple units recently for a clients New Tower PC. Tested Disk to Disk and found these to be fast burning and well worth the money. Highly recommended for any PC RW DVDs.

Not a lot to say. Its a dvd burner that works as its supposed to. Some people have complained that its noisy but at least mine is very quiet. They all make noise when they spin up for reading and writing. No noisier than any other burner I have used.
