ASUS DRW-24F1ST - DVD SATA SUPERMULTI Burner - SERIAL ATA - BLACK - OEM Bulk Drive

Bought this to replace the 10 yr old DVD burner in my desktop. I was surprised that this drive completes its task much faster than the old original drive, even using the same software and same blank discs.

What could have been an easy replacement of a faulty disc drive turned into a scavenger hunt for screws from my dads hodgepodge screw cabinet. Beware. Other than that, it works just fine. Ive had mine for about three months now, and Ive had no problems. The faulty drive was from someone else.

Does what a DVD burner should and is plenty fast. Bought to replace the LG my Cyberpower Rig came with, which died right after my warranty was up. 4 stars because Ive bought Asus burners at this price point before (built a few rigs for friends and family members over the last 5-6 years) and this one feels like its a bit lower build quality. This seems to be a thing too. Ive stopped buying certain brands because, as physical media popularity is dropping, the quality on the products to support whats left seems to also be dropping.

Easy to install

was purchased to replace a customers broken data connection on a SATA drive

Its a disk drive, I used it to install Windows 10 and my motherboard drivers and unplugged it since its pretty loud at start up.

This drive goes about its business quietly and without any grief. Its the 3rd or 4th Asus CD/DVD drive Ive had and all have been quiet and worked well. Also, unlike a few others Ive had, all of them are still working. One is one of the first SATA CD drives on the market. Ive had a couple of Plextor drives and while theyve been great, one did eventually fail and they are expensive.

not using it long enough to give pros or cons here but the drive is fast and reads all formats.

Fairly quiet easy to install and works fine. Good price from a quality company.
