> 3 dayI hope this short review helps in your shopping. I always depend or reviews for my decisions. I needed a custom built computer with a clean Windows install. My son is an IT person and said we could put one together in half an hour. So I ordered all the components and that is what we did...in about half an hour. This was the DVD reader/writer I bought. It seems to be as advertised. I have always had good success with ASUS. I have not burned many dvds yet but the reading and writing have both met my expectations. I would definitely buy it again.

> 3 dayThis drive goes about its business quietly and without any grief. Its the 3rd or 4th Asus CD/DVD drive Ive had and all have been quiet and worked well. Also, unlike a few others Ive had, all of them are still working. One is one of the first SATA CD drives on the market. Ive had a couple of Plextor drives and while theyve been great, one did eventually fail and they are expensive.

> 3 dayIt was a reasonable priced drive to replace the one that died in my computer.

> 3 dayOptical drives are consumable items. Theyre apparently not made to last. I can understand that the optics would get dusty, but optical drives have a short life and often cant be resurrected by cleaning the optics. This ASUS was an inexpensive quick fix. I was back up in a few minutes and its been good about playing just about any CD or DVD, including those from other burners.

> 3 dayI built a new computer and had to replace my old CDROM because the new motherboards no longer have the old ATA interface. I tried to used a ATA to SATA adapter but that did not work. The drive works great.

> 3 dayNot a lot to say. Its a dvd burner that works as its supposed to. Some people have complained that its noisy but at least mine is very quiet. They all make noise when they spin up for reading and writing. No noisier than any other burner I have used.

> 3 dayThe Asus name has always been good to me so I decided to purchase one for my new Dell which has Windows 7. This combination works just fine for DVD formats, reading and writing. The cost is about the same as the other drives and might be made by all one manufacturer somewhere in China. The Quality is right on! Thanks

> 3 dayI cant believe how well this thing works with no noise or problems. I wish everything I bought was like this.
