Audio-Technica VM540ML/H Turntable Headshell/Cartridge Combo Kit Red

Absolutely spectacular. Felt compelled to write a review. Regardless of what some might say. I simply upgraded from the original cart to this on the At-Lp120. The music really comes alive.

Fantastic needle, tracks like a pro and relays sound to one’s ears that didn’t come through the previous factory 2M Red. Definitely a huge fan and will be a fan for years to come.

I put this on a new AT-LP5 and the sound is phenomenal. Spacious and lush sounding. The sound gives a natural feeling while listening. I’m just getting into vinyl at 45 years old and I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to start. I listened to Bowie and Neil Young this evening and there were times that I started mumbling to myself while listening to these records.

Sounds better than an ortofon red on my Technics 1200: more definition and presence, very nice high end crisp and never agressive. A step up from my previous cartridge.

Bought a vintage Denon DP-30L turntable. It came with a cart that has no shielding so it picked up the hum of the direct drive motor and got louder the closer to the spindle it got. After a bit of research this cart kept popping up as a recommendation as a good fit for the Denon. When the cart came it was checked before installing. They did a great job of mounting the cart to the headshell. It was straight and the overhang was spot on. Installed on the Denon it is now the quietest TT Ive ever had. The sound is excellent across the full range and its not even broken in yet. Very good bass, highs and mids. Its the whole package. Ive spent more for a moving coil cart and this one is better both in price and sound.

I upgraded my cartridge from the VM95 series and am absolutely loving this upgrade. The audio is crisp, clean, and I am definitely excited for the longevity of the 540ML.

Worth the money. Nuff said.

Great upgrade for my AudioTechnica LP-120. Really opened up the range on the new & old vinyl.

The is the best needle and headshell .Highly recommended .My turntable use to get a loud hum when i turned the volume up i put isolated legs on it but it still made a humming noise but when i installed my Audio-Technica VM540ML/H Turnble Headshell/Cartridge Combo Kit Red. no more hum and the music i played was so clean i heard every vocal and instrument like the artist was really there performing

Not quite as good as the 2M Bronze but definitely a contender. A wonderful cartridge.
