Just received hangers and was surprised that four 1/2 inch lag bolts were included. The hanger is made of cast iron a d is very heavy duty. I used them to hang a 60 inch wooden porch swing and I think the swing will break before the hangers ever will. I don’t think I needed such strong hangers but I will never worry of them failing. Make sure you mount them in the center of a beam or the 1/2 bolts will split the wood. Durability should not be a problem....rust on Y time will tell.

My experience with this product is that it is incredibly durable and easy to install ... with one little caveat; it came with templates indicating where to drill half-inch diameter holes. That would be fine for standard machine bolts, but they provided half-inch diameter lag bolts. If one pre-drills half-inch holes, the lag bolts have no wood to which they can cling. Drill 3/8 holes, instead, or buy 1/2 machine bolts long enough to penetrate to the other side of the wood beam.

We needed new hardware for our A-frame wooden swing set. Earlier this year we replaced the top crossbar, but the old swing hinge parts were about ten years old and failing. Based on a friends recommendation, we bought these. The parts came with vinyl templates for drilling the 5/16 pilot holes, which was fantastic; it allowed us to use the existing 5/16 holes from the older mounts. These parts are SOLID: cast iron, well-coated, and utterly SILENT in use. Definitely recommend.

We dont want our swings falling off the beam, so we bought commercial-grade swings and this equipment to secure them. We built a DIY swingset between two trees. Its so beautiful and extremely sturdy.

First off, the swing hanger itself is great. Its heavy duty, and well coated to avoid any rusting. It comes with lag screws that can be used for a quick installation. However - here is the problem: Problem 1: The lag screws that it comes with have a cheap zinc coating on them - this would probably be fine if you are drilling into non pressure treated wood for indoor use. Given that this is meant for a swing set though, chances are that you are attaching the mounts outdoors to pressure treated wood. Pressure treated woo is highly corrosive and requires hot dipped galvanized screws/bolts to avoid corrosion. I initially installed the swing hangers with the stock hardware, and found that they started to rust and corrode after only a month. Problem 2: The lag screws are not a standard size, so you cannot simply swap these out for 1/2 hot dipped galvanized lag screws that you can get at Home Depot or Lowes. The holes in the swing hanger are too small to fit 1/2 hot dipped galvanized lag screws. So essentially you are forced to replace these almost 1/2 screws with 3/8 size hardware. Recommendation to the customer: If you are mounting to pressure treated wood, I recommend throwing out the hardware that comes with it, and replacing them with 3/8 galvanized bolts. I used bolts instead of screws because I had to size down and wanted the extra security of a bolt. Additionally, I already had the holes drilled for the almost 1/2 size screws so i could not use a 3/8 size lag screw. Some recommendations/ideas for the vendor: - Adjust the size of the holes in the swing hanger to accommodate 1/2 galvanized screws/bolts - Include galvanized hardware or dont include any hardware and tell the customer the size and type of hardware they should buy (likely galvanized if using pressure treated wood).

These are heavy duty. Should last a long time. I did remove the bolt and apply some grease.

Shout out to Jason Haas, thank you for your review, its spot on. If youre attaching these to pressure treated wood you have buy galvanized screws. The included screws are a weird size, bigger than 3/8 and smaller than 1/2. I had to buy new 3/8 screws to install in pressure treated wood. Saved me from cursing and having to make another trip to the hardware store by reading Jasons review.

Installed a swing for the grand kids and used this to hang the swing on..wife was the first to test out and the hinges were great! Extremely tough and will hold up for many years. Took some time because of using the drill over head, but well worth the time and purchase!
