BLACK+DECKER 16 Inches Stand Fan with Remote

> 24 hourI received this item with a remote control that didn’t have the back of the remote control included. I’ve called Amazon, who referred me to Black and Decker, who referred me to W Appliances, who referred me back to Black and Decker. Mind you, I was hold for each call AND NEVER GOT A RESOLUTION! I am so irritated. I didn’t want to return the entire fan because it’s a nice one. I just want the battery closure of the remote control. However; it is 1:27pm right now and the original Amazon rep said she’d call me at 2pm to see if I got the problem solved. I can’t believe any of this.

> 24 hourI ordered 2 of these fans. The fans were easy to assemble and exactly what I needed. One fan arrived in a box that had clearly been a return and rewrapped. I did not need the fans immediately so I kept them both in boxes past the Amazon return date. Both fans worked well and as the weather got warmer I relied on both fans. However, the fan that came in the rewrapped box stopped after a short time. As I was past the Amazon return date, I contacted Black & Decker get satisfaction under the year warranty. In September 15, 2022, after several inquiries and misdirections, I finally got in touch with the correct person/department, and was told that was no problem to get a replacement, just cut the cord, send a photo and a new fan would be shipped to me. I completed that task and never heard anything. On October 24, 2022, I followed up and was told Oops, I should have sent a copy of my original receipt. While on the phone with the customer service representative, I sent a copy of my receipt and received confirmation that she received it. She was very nice and promised to expedite my claim. Nothing from Black & Decker. My last attempt for satisfaction was 2/7/23 but I have yet to hear any more from Black and Decker. Before the weather heats up, I will be in need of a new fan but I dont plan on buying one from this company.

> 24 hourIt oscillates for better circulation. I never used the remote much, but it works just fine. The fan is a little loud, but doesnt get much louder on levels 2 and 3. I personally wanted a fan that made a considerable amount of noise to help me sleep and mask noise I make throughout the day through my thin wall to my parents room, which their heads are quite literally leaning on. Easy to assemble and disassemble for even easier cleaning. All thats left to gauge in this fan is its longevity. See you all in a few decades hopefully!

> 24 hourWhat I wouldve liked to known before buying: (To be fair all this info is probably readily available but I was in a hurry to buy a cheap fan so I wasnt thorough in reading about it.) 1. You CANNOT control the oscillating function (swinging motion) with the remote. You can only control this with a mechanical switch on the back of the fan. Luckily since the switch is mechanical you dont have to press it again every time you turn the fan on. 2. Most of the assembly is easy, but the last step is very difficult and you will NEED 2 people to finish it. The hardest part is putting the wire cover that goes over the blades. Basically the front piece of the fan that says Black & Decker. Youre supposed to get the plastic (back piece) to cover the wire, which is such a tight squeeze. I didnt think it was possible... and it really wasnt just using our hands. We had to use a butter knife to get the plastic around the wire while another person holds the cover in place so it doesnt pop out on the other side... It was like fitting 20lbs of meat into a 5lb sausage casing. The front cover stays on with mostly tension. I personally did my best to get the front logo straight, but it turned out slightly slanted because of the struggle we had getting it in place... I would have to undo the tension to fix it, but its not even slightly worth it... Id rather paint over the logo than have to put the cover back on. 3. If you lose the remote you cannot control the fan speed. There is no button on the fan that controls speed. Just power and timer. Also keep in mind that every time you power the fan on it automatically starts at the highest speed. So if you do lose the remote it will be stuck on high speed. Would I still buy the fan knowing all this now? ABSOLUTELY. It was cheap and its working great for what I need! The power is wonderful and its keeping my room a lot cooler. Its really not noisy and I think its because the blades are plastic. Its not silent, but I wouldnt say its loud or anything. One thing that would bother a lot of people is the LED light on it. It is very bright, and will light up a small room thats in complete darkness. Definitely annoying if the blue light is pointed straight towards you... And I did see the review below that explains how to remove the actual light diodes, but it wasnt really worth the effort to me, and I am familiar with picking apart electronics. I did, however, end up using black nail polish to paint over each light, and it worked great for me. It needed two coats and the light doesnt shine through at all... AT ALL. So if you dont want to open the thing up you can cover the lights with paint, or get creative with something else. If I am being nit picky towards Black & Decker, and giving them a tip for the future: I wish the cord was attached at the base of the fan instead of the control panel. It hangs down from the back and doesnt touch the floor when away from the wall... Its ugly and depending on where you put the fan you might have to step over the cord... But again, its cheap. Its working. Its all I needed! Hopefully it lasts a long time. Will update in the future if anything note-worthy comes up.

> 24 hourThis fan is powerful and really moves the air. Bonus that it can remain still or oscillate.

> 24 hourFirst there were some problems/damage caused only by USPS, the box was delivered very quick, but damaged, my area was receiving torrential rains, so I understand the box being wet but it had obvious physical damage (impact, dropped, bumped) and it was soaked as if it stood in standing water. The there was minor cosmetic damage, one small piece of the fan shroud cover-grill was broken off the plastic half. The metal front-half of the grill had bent bars that were easy to push back into shape, no biggy. The box was soaked but the contents were dry, still in their plastic. Once assembled, the two halves of the fan shroud being tricky to snap together without a break was challenging, it functioned as advertised. The remote is handy and though noisier than my previous fan, acceptable. Overall happy with the product, not so happy with USPS...

> 24 hourIt does its job, but its too loud on the highest setting. I keep it around the middle setting, and its fine.
