BoatBuckle G2 Retractable Transom Tie-Down, 1 Pair

I purchased this product after having the retractors on other cheaper versions fail. Unfortunately, this product failed within the first year as well. I use these in fresh water, so corrosion should not be such a problem. When I dismantled the retractor mechanism, I found the spring to be so brittle that it would break immediately when I tried to reattach to the spool and wind it back up. The rest of the tie-down is very robust, and shows no sign of wear. They need to use stronger springs, as this is the weak link.

I replaced some cheap, imported ratchet transom straps on my rig. These are much easier and faster to use. I save several minutes both loading and unloading using these. [Wink - they make my boat faster and more fuel efficient too :-)]
