> 3 dayWill get this for any boat trailer I have. It saves me the extra step of putting the straps away and getting the right length. Its that much faster to launch and take out now. Plus I never wonder where they are.

Greater than one weekI purchased this to replace the existing ratchet transom tie-downs which lasted for about 3 years. The bolts on this one were not as heavy duty as the previous one (smaller diameter) but appear to be strong enough. What is it with so many manufacturers today using the smallest of type size for their instructions? I needed to use a magnifying glass to read them. How about a little respect for those of us with aging eyes?

> 3 dayIf youre in the market, these are the ones you want. Much better than the cheap straps that came on the trailer. Im unsure how these will do season after season, but my first impression after a couple launches is quite positive. The mounting hardware (two bolts, two nuts) were not the same size, so all the hardware got tossed and replaced with stainless hardware locally purchased. Go with stainless locking nuts as well. The instructions suggest using a single mounting bolt, but the pattern on the strap assembly is set to accommodate two bolts. I went with two bolts on each side. I had to grind flat spots in the washers because theyre spaced pretty closely together, but its quite secure this way. They release well and easily while under pressure, the gaps between cogs arent too far apart so you can get it in that sweet spot of tight, but not too tight. My trailer came with the el cheapo version of the same concept, and the recoiler mechanism broke and wouldnt release the first time I tried to launch. These were built for a much heavier duty purpose, so they feel like theyll last a decade. If youre going to attempt to do the two bolts per, you could repeat my process. I pressed (you could tape) a piece of paper to the mounting plate and lightly pressed on the depressions made by the bolt holes with a pencil which gave me the correct spacing. Measure center to center to be certain, but this gives you something to drill through for the mounting process. Also, if you drill with a bit 1 size too small, then enlarge the hole with the correct size, it will nearly always clean off the burrs on the backside where you would otherwise slice your fingers while trying to afix hardware. The instructions specify that you should have a minimum of 12 inches of strap. Theres no obvious reason for this specification. I tried ratcheting until the hook reached the housing, and it seemed to work just fine. Congrats on finding your new transom tie downs. These will speed up your launch and leave times by ten minutes or more. I took off a star, but only because the mounting hardware was plain wrong. (Bolt was correct size, but the nut didnt fit the bolt. Shredded threads when I tightened for giggles)

> 3 dayYou cant beat the speed, simplicity, or convenience. We bought these for the stern tie downs 3 or 4 years ago and decided to get bow tie downs this year. Great product
