Much better than just plain carbon. If you are unsure about getting the Elite version you need to understand that regular Chemipure does not have the phosphate reducing additive.

I have used this product for over 35 years. It is terrific and a must have. Note that this is the nano size, and I use it for 15 gallons. It is a fourth of the regular sized bottle. It is, however, nearly the same price ;)

Best filter media out there. Period.

Was having an issue with Red Slime in a very simple 40g fish only with live rock saltwater tank. Only has a small canister filter and power head for circulation. The red slime was quickly getting out of control, so I dosed the RedSea red slime remover first. It did ok, removed some but not all of the slime. So I added a bag of this to the canister. Within about 9 days all of the red slime is gone. Not a trace left of it anywhere.

Chemi-pure is a fantastic product. chemi-pure keeps my nano 29g aquarium completely algae free! Fish and coral are very happy and so am I!

This didnt do anything to my tank. It didnt make my tank crystal clear like people claim it does. It also didnt remove phosphates or silicates from my water as I still had diatoms growing in my tank from the silicates in the water. Not sure what all the hoopla is about this product, but I wont be buying it again.

Did not help my aquariums water clear up. Barely fit in the filter. Was super messy. Wanted to return but I had thrown the container away.

    Greater than one week

This stuff works ok. It takes a lot of space and the carbon goes much faster then the other ingredients. Still I believe it is about the best for tank that does not have plants. if you have a larger filter a combination of separate bags like Purigen, Phosguard and maybe some carbon would work better where you could replace each separately as needed. It is a bit pricy but does the job pretty well.

Chemi-pure is the original formula for over 50 years with millions of satisfied customers. It was invented by Dick Boyd in the 1960"s. Chemi-pure combines high grade granular activated carbon with advanced ion exchange resins offering superior filtration for your freshwater, reef, or marine aquarium. Together, this proprietary blend removes odors and color- causing dissolved organic molecules along with toxins, medications, phenols, and dissolved metals. Chemi-pure"s exclusive media formula has an ideal pore size for absorbing nitrogenous wastes and dissolved organics in your aquarium water while being the safest filter media available. Chemi-pure will keep your aquarium healthy, stable, and crystal clear. Keep Chemi-pure sealed in container until ready for use. Rinse lightly under running water then place nylon bag in any external power filter, canister filter, or filter sump. Chemi-pure should be replaced approximately every 3 months depending on bio-load. If more than one Chemi-pure filter bag is used, change one at a time every week until all bags have been replaced. Use one 6.5 oz. unit for up to 25 gallons.
