24-11-2024I got this tile-laying game for family game night. It is very approachable for everyone, and it actually looks great at the same time. The goals cards give a good amount of replayability through changing how you score points. The games are pretty short, and it does make its way to the table pretty often.

Greater than one weekKing Domino meets Carcassonne meets Quartile. Great game mechanics, nice variability, and just plain pretty. More strategy develops on each replay, but beginners arent left in the dust. Its a great game.

> 3 dayI tend to lean toward the heavier side of strategy games, things like Everdell, Terra Mystica, Castles of Burgundy, and Voyages of Marco Polo. However, sometimes you just want a fun, easy to play game that has just enough strategy to keep you interested, without jarring the sensibilities of the less hardcore players. In the past, Splendor was my go-to game of this kind, but I am ecstatic to add Cascadia into the mix. Its a fantastic blend of fast, easy to learn playability, with just enough strategy to keep things interesting. The core strategies are simple -- form an arrangement of animals in a pattern to score points, while attempting to match (as best as possible) the terrain types to maximize bonus scoring. The minor mechanic that lets you alter the basic tile/animal selection (the pine cone bonus tiles) is just perfect for adding a little bit more strategy without radically altering the core. Our family loves it. My 9 and 11 year-olds enjoy the theme with the wildlife and animals, and the overall strategy is clear to them (even if they are still learning the nuances). The parts are well made; the terrain tiles and animal tokens are a nice, thick cardstock. The bag, box, and storage are compact and easy to manage. I suspect over time this will be a game ripe for expansions, as I can see perhaps after 25+ plays that you might want more variety in animals, terrain, and scoring options. But even out of the box youre getting a fantastic game at a very good price, one thats absolutely worth having in your collection.

> 3 dayWe love Cascadia! Of course, Beth Sobel’s art is absolutely fantastic and the components are good quality. We have played this game with our regular game night group as well as with people who don’t play many games but love the outdoors, and everyone has had a great time.

> 3 dayCascadia is great light to mid level game that is fairly easy to learn and teach. Player count says 2-4 but they supply a fifth stater tile and we have played games with 5. We prefer games of 3-4 but fun with 2 and 5 also. Game time runs about 45min with four engaged players who have played before.

Greater than one weekThis game is deceptively fun, after reading the instructions we were a little apprehensive. That quickly changed after we started playing and immediately after we were ready to play again.

> 3 daySo easy to learn, heavily luck based but still some skill needed. You can easily screw yourself in this game if you arent paying attention. Ive focused to heavily on one thing a few times and ended up with a horrible score. I have yet to tire of this game. A fun quick solitaire.
