Great little tool... if you are trying to identify all the cables in your home, to the jungle of cables outside Your home, this tool is the trick. Very simple to use. Great for cord cutters who wish to send a signal to more than One room. It uses a 12v battery so it should work on even the longest cable runs. The technology is just like a flash light.

Got it into the mail, unpacked it and put the battery in (gotta take off the mic AND the battery cap. If you dont have a piece with a little spring sticking out you havent taken it apart correctly, look at the diagram on the packaging better), attached the signal piece to the one I wanted to connect to in the house and screwed the mic in to each of the mystery ones outside until it beeped sharply. Marked them both with a colored zip tie and now I am able to swap my modem around where I wanted

The red light is supposed to indicate shorted circuits but it shines on good circuits, too. A short piece of coax thats known to be good verified this so deducting 1 star. Otherwise, this unit works as described. There are no instructions but its not hard to figure out. Insert battery. Screw one end to a run of coax. Insert the tool into the other end of the same cable. Alarm should sound. If it doesnt then you havent found the correct end of the coax yet.

I have not gotten a clear response to a question about this, but it looks like it doesnt work well through splitters. It seems to be just a DC circuit tester, but I really cant tell. Ive got cables in my RV that I know are connected and quite possibly through a splitter but this device shows the circuit as being open.

The tester works well and I liked that fact that the buzzer was loud enough to hear in the attic with the speaker all the way across the house. I liked the LED for those times the buzzer is too far away to be heard.

This thing is so cool and it helped me with a mess of RG59 wiring pre-installed in my home to figure what is what. Only downfall would be lack of directions.
