These are definitely a brass rods. They can be used for all kinds of crafts and maker things. I have used these to make press fit brass pins, to hold other things together. They are dimensionally accurate, so you wont have unexpected slippage.

These rods are great for craft projects. I use them as rods/axles in small 3D printed objects and they work great. Theyre true to size and look much nicer than a steel rod. I got 1/16 diameter rods and they can be bent with enough effort, but stay straight otherwise (which is what I want). Theyre also thin enough to be cut with pliers, no saw or other tool needed (though Im sure the larger diameter rods would require more robust tools for cutting). These came well protected in a plastic container that makes for easy storage as well. All in all, super pleased with these and the price is very reasonable. Definitely recommend!

My husband requested that I order this brass rod for him. He was very impressed with the packaging and the apparently quality of it. He is gathering materials to build a knife and this is one more piece of the puzzle.

This brass bar arrived in good shape. It is clean and does not have any significant surface corrosion. When I measure it though I consistently am getting a diameter of 0.374 instead of 0.375 (3/8). This happens to be 9.5mm and I suspect that is the spec this bar was actually made to. If I needed bar that was exactly .375, I would be buying a larger diameter and machining it to size anyway, so I dont feel the .001 undersize is a significant deviation. But I do think its worth mentioning. Overall Im pretty happy with this brass bar and give it 4 stars for meeting my expectations (but not exceeding them). I also ordered a pair of these brass rods in 1/4 diameter - those measure out to .250 so they are correctly sized. Ive very happy with the quality of both sets of brass bars.

Wow, I wasnt sure what to expect when I ordered these brass rods, but I was really hoping for some good rods to use for making rivets. I dont know why, but I seem to struggle with finding good quality brass wire for rivet making -- its always so soft that its nearly impossible to form a rivet head without deforming the whole thing. These rods are absolutely perfect for what I need, so Im really happy to have found them! Judging by the feel of the hardness of the 1mm rods, these DO seem like 1/2 hard brass. I wont really know until I actually make a rivet, but Im optimistic, because I cannot easily bend the 1mm rod with very light pressure, which is often the case with almost all the wire I get, which has a soft temper. Overall, these look good -- they dont have a great finish (its OK, but its not jewelry-quality), so whatever youre using them for, expect to do some sanding and polishing if presentation matters. I have no problem with doing my own finishing, especially for the price of these. One final note: pay attention to the length! The 50 piece pack ranging in diameter from 1mm to 8mm has 100mm length rods. These are NOT very long. For me, this is actually ideal, but depending on what you need, it may not be, so keep that in mind.

This 1/2 rod arrived in very good condition packaged in a plastic sleeve. It is straight and the surface finish was quite good for a product in as manufactured condition. The rod is .499 in diameter and it was approximately 11 13/16 long. Despite the slightly shorter than specified length, I am pleased with teh quality of this product.

Every now and then you get surprised at a product that goes so far above your expectations. This set of brass rods is one of those experiences. The precision and quality are far above other similar products I have had before. There are no knicks, dings or rust. It is simply the best it can be for an amazingly low price. Add the bonus of a very unique and functional storage container rather than the usual plastic zip bag and Im over the moon happy. If you use brass rods in your crafting, work shop or machining area, this is a great deal. Im planning on using these in my windchimes and garden metal art. Im very, very pleased with this item and would give it ten stars if possible.
