I had so much issue trying to connect to the device. After chatting with technical support, I had a suspicion it has something to do with my passwords. My wi-fi passwords is a whole sentence with multiple special characters including spaces. This unit cannot recognize special characters, it can only accept alpha numeric passwords. In other words w/o spaces, the old way. Its easily hackable. Not good for a IoT device. Thank goodness I was only going to use it to power on lights in my backyard otherwise I wouldnt trust it on anything else. I wouldve returned it if it wasnt passed the return window.

Easy to pair with D Link app and any WiFi source— then just turn on or off with your phone from anywhere.

While it recognized my wifi (and all my neighbors) in the list of choices it repeatedly told me my password was wrong so I could not use the product. FAIL! Plus as I bought them to use for Christmas lights now I am stuck with them as I only just opened so it is way past return time. I never imagined they wouldnt work.

The outdoor plug itself is well made, functional. The app is another story. Scheduling is a joke. I set the outlet to come on at 8pm and off at 1am. The app tells me this is unacceptable! The start time must begin before the stop time. The only thing in this world that thinks 1am is earlier than 8pm is the calendar. Obviously no humans involved here!

Stumbled on to this while checking out the Lutron Caseta switch device at almost 3x the price and so glad I did. Unpacking this from the box, the construction is impressive, weather-proof and rugged. Downloaded the app, powered it up and low and behold, it came right up on the app, So far, with a couple days in production, its incredibly reliable. Probably the easiest install of any home automation device Ive used. Only issue I can think of: it would be awesome if the device was smaller. Its pretty large and bulky. But, dang, this thing is so good, its still 5-stars.

The D-LINK Outdoor Wi-Fi Smart Plug DSP-W320 was purchased primarily as a weatherproof and dust-resistant USB power source for an outdoor chicken coop auto-door. In that respect, it works very well. *** It should be noted that Amazon has lumped together *all* of the D-LINK smart devices. This made sorting through the reviews a tiresome task. *** To date, we have not tried the WiFi component, or even the two 120vac outlets. Given that the outlets are there, we do anticipate using them this winter for a heated water dish and a wall mounted heater for the bantams. We are hoping the device will handle the extreme cold weather we find in the winter. If we experience any malfunctions, we will update this review. Otherwise, it has been properly functioning to date and setup was not at all problematic.

D-Link is a trusted brand, and I’ve had good luck with their products over the years. This thing is big. It fills the hand. It has a right angle power plug that goes straight down, so you can hang it. There is a screw hanger to help if that’s how you want to mount it; at 13 oz, you’ll need it. There are individual covers for the outlets when they’re not in use. These gaskets are amazing, and I have no doubt they’ll last well. The USB always being on may be a miss for some, but I would use it for a USB-powered camera, so that’s not an issue for me. I could see where that might ruffle feathers, however. The 2 outlets on it are controlled individually, using the mydlink app, which seems to be fairly decent. The aesthetic is nice Doesn’t require a hub and connects well to Alexa. It also can be turned on/off the old-fashioned way by going to the device. GIven the way the app is constructed, it may be that more components such as cameras and sensors are meant to work in conjunction with it as an overall system. Interesting things can still happen there, but I don’t have a D-Link ecosystem. To be fair, I think it’s rugged, well-built, and probably a touch overpriced. The price is not competitive if you’re not part of that world.

This is a very useful multi-purpose timer. It is perfect for controlling Christmas light with the easily set schedule program. This is also perfect for controlling indoor light when the user if out of the house. The dual AC outlets are individually controlled with their own schedule. These can control lights at different part of the house. The only drawback is that the schedule can not be randomized (meaning shift in schedule for different day). This can be corrected by manually change the schedule via the internet connection and remotely modify the schedule. Otherwise, it is an excellent timer/controller.
