21-11-2024Have not had to use and hope I never will, but the peace of mind knowing I have this tool is worth every penny. Knowing that no matter the chocking situation I will be prepared and have the greatest chance to save my or another child’s life is a great feeling.

> 3 dayWe bought a dechoker about a year and a half ago, as some of the other comments above have said, mainly for peace of mind. Unfortunately, we did have to use it just a couple of days ago. While my husband was trying to get the dechoker out of the diaper bag, I was administering CPR techniques on our three year-old, and with the combination of the two his airway was clear in less than 10 seconds. My recommendation to new parents who are getting this is to introduce it to your child so that they are not scared of it when the time comes to use it. As soon as my husband got it out of the bag, my toddler knew what to do and grabbed the mouthpiece and put it in his mouth. We have started introducing the device to our 10 month old just so he’s familiar to it as well. Scary things happen but when you have the right tools and practice what to do I promise it does make it 95% easier.

> 3 dayYesterday it happened to us, our 8 year old, Maxwell, choked. 60 seconds of terror. I have taken first aid and CPR at least seven or eight times in my Early Childhood career. This was my first choking incident and it was absolutely terrifying. Maxwell sat down for a bowl of SpaghettiOs and meatballs, walked over to me with bug eyes, grabbing his throat. I think I asked him if he was serious, and he nodded. My husband immediately started looking for our De-choking device in our medicine cabinet. I tried to swipe out the food, but it was too far down. I did two pulls of the Heimlich maneuver, nothing. By then Blake had the device and put it on his mouth. With one pull the full meatball was out. Was I doing the Heimlich correctly? In my state of panic, I have absolutely no idea. I wasn’t about to waste another second finding out. I’m so so thankful we had this device. I encourage everyone to buy some now. I carry one in my purse and we had one in our kitchen. Maxwell is doing good although he is pretty emotional and shaken up, as are we. I hope we never have to go through this again, but at least I know we will be ready.

Greater than one weekOne of those things you hope you never have to use. Our first baby started solid foods so we wanted to be prepared. Clear instructions and good design.

Greater than one weekThis item is dangerous to use on a child that is choking. The hard plastic tube can cut and bruise the mouth. It is difficult to use and takes at least two people. It was faster and safer to use the method learned in a 1st aid/cpr course. I will never try to use anything like this on my children. What a waste of money.

> 3 dayWhen I heard about this product I was exited, but now I’m not sure. First it took 3 weeks to receive it. Instructions for use that came with dose not have any instructions on how to use product but instead they have about 3 pages of warnings that sound more like in case something happens company can save them self from lawsuits. Oh yeah it did come with the card asking me to rate the product so here I am. I do have concerns on how this product is put together some plastic parts seem fused together and I do see flaws in it that it might not be able to hold together in case of emergency. Device is covered in some kind of grease or lubricant inside and out not sure maybe to protect the quality of plastic. It has big FDA registered sticker but not FDA approved I guess it’s for sale tricks. In instructions under maintenance, There is no instructions on how to maintain devices it only tells you not to take device apart and in case of emergency call 911… also in instructions it said all users must read instructions for use before using it but doesn’t mention one word on how to use it. There is so called quick manual on how to use device in device it self but I would like to have full manual. Also how do I find LOT number there is non on device or package? Well I give it 3 for not bit suspicious on presentation and quality it can go up or down and I hope I will never have to use it.
