> 3 dayExcellent suction and easy to operate and dump out. Picks up kitty litter very well, which was main reason I bought it. But it would be nicer to have the stair attachment, which the msnufacturer told me is NOT available for this model. In hindsight I should have just paid the extra and got the model that did have the stair attachment because this model has only a very narrow pick-up part or opening.

> 3 dayUpdate for those reading in 2017: This vacuum is still going strong 6 years later and I still have not changed the filter. I hope they havent modified the current product since then for newcomers! Pros: 1. Great suction for its size 2. Crevice tool very useful 3. Smaller than I expected, barely more than a foot long, light 4. Easy to clean filter (dont bother buying more, just get your hands dirty for a bit) YOU WANT the filter to have a layer of gunk, because this will keep the filter from ripping if you happen to suck up sharp objects. It doesnt effect suction much and is a great cushion. For those that report it blowing dirt and dust through it is likely due to the filter ripping from sharp objects. Wipe off whatever comes off, but leave that dirt layer. Saves time and need to buy more filters. 5. Comes with optional hose and brush 6. Long sturdy cord with the clip on the plug so you can easily wrap it around the vacuum for storage 7. Corded so you never have to worry about a dwindling battery life. 8. Optional shoulder strap Cons: 1. Very loud, you may be startled on your first run 2. Stinks! The burned machine smell everyone mentions comes out right away. Because of this, dont run it for too long. Theres probably a heat issue associated with this as well. (The cord does mention it will turn off automatically if it gets too hot) 3. Air is blown out through two fins on the sides. It blows directly behind it so aim wisely if you dont want particles flying around (ie. aim down in general so it blows upward and it shouldnt be an issue). Comments: Overall worth every penny (29.99 at my time of purchase, oh my god its only 24.64 at time of this review 2/18/11!) This gets the job done really fast and its size makes it perfect for cars. You will find many uses for the crevice tool so when you do post about it!. Most useful thing I came up with so far is for shoes! Sucks up lint, hair, pet fur, as well as sand and rocks for you active people running alot. Finally, the default suction is just a big hole with plastic housing. Theres no brush or rubber so if you are vacuuming on hard floors dont let the vacuum make contact with the floor if you plan to glide it, it will definitely scrape it very quickly. Otherwise glide all you want on carpet. In conclusion, great when it works. Even if it does break on you, Im sure youll remember how useful it was before it does. Dont abuse it and you will love it.

> 3 dayMy wife wanted a new handheld vac for cleaning “difficult areas” like the dog kennel and our kitchen rugs. So I bought this one. In her text to me after using it for the first time, she stated, “That little Dirt Devil kicks a**.” I can think of no higher praise than that! Easy to use and powerful. It’s a great buy if you’re in the market for a handheld vac.

> 3 daySo, we got a puppy. We had hoped she wouldnt be a big shedder (shes a true pound puppy), but we were very wrong. She also wont housebreak, but thats another story for another review. As soon as I realized that vacuuming the couch was now a daily required task (sigh), I was on the hunt for a handheld vac so I didnt have to lug out my Dyson upright everyday. I didnt want to mess with battery powered - I wanted plug in power! I opened it immediately (bc Im in my mid thirties and excitement looks different these days) and went to work on the couch. It worked like a charm. I did find that using the dust brush worked best on the couch, but without worked best on the chair. Noted. The stairs are next, but I imagine itll work just as well. (Although it may require a plug change in the middle - not sure if the cord will be long enough to make the distance. First world problems.) It also worked great with the extension piece to clean the baseboards. I would love to have seen a place to wrap the cord onto the actual vacuum and on board storage for the dust brush would be convenient, but theyre definitely not deal breakers for me. And at this price point, Ill deal with the minor inconveniences. So, in summation, while we may regret this puppy (I kid... mostly), we certainly dont regret this vacuum purchase. And we will love both for a long time.

> 3 dayWhat a great purchase! I am a 67 year old, retired apartment dweller that likes to keep my place clean and I just wasnt happy with the way my regular vacuum cleaned using the accessories, so I purchased the Scorpion. The first day I went crazy around my apartment. I pulled all the furniture to the center of the room and went to sweeping around the baseboards. I had to clean out the dust filter three times just in the living room! This little vacuum has tons of suction and picked up stuff I never knew was there. Then I did all the furniture. I usually drag the shop vac out to sweep the car, but no more. The Scorpion did a great job except the flip down nozzle is a little fat to reach down into some tight spots. That wasnt a big deal though. It sucked up gravel easily. I couldnt find anything wrong with this little vacuum. There were some comments about the odor and smelling hot. Not to worry. I used mine for a total of three hours the first weekend and that smell went away after a short time. I would guess it was just an over abundance of lube on the motor bearings or something. Others complained of the noise. Noise equals power. It isnt THAT bad. The cord is long enough for any job around the house, but not handy for storage. I coil it up and stick it through the handle. What hasnt been stated is that it has a place on the back of the handle so the unit can be hung on a hook. That is pretty handy. I am going to purchase extra filters because I had to dust the first one out several times and rinsed it twice. Snapping in a clean one would save some time when you are into the cleaning mood as I seldom am!! I highly recommend the Scorpion. It came very close to 5 stars!!

20-11-2024I absolutely LOVE this Dirt Devil hand vac. Its powerful and worth every single penny. After spending a small fortune on cordless hand vacs that barely worked, I decided to go with a corded have vac. DIRT DEVIL is the way to go.

> 3 dayI read some of the reviews complaining that this item was lacking power. Well, I found that this vac performs great. Plenty of power and easy to use. Much better than battery operated versions.

> 3 dayExtremely powerful suction. Great for cleaning up dust and pet hair. 5/5. Cord is decently long but sometimes not long enough for where I need to get to, but I knew what I was getting into when I bought a corded vacuum. Cannot over-emphasize how powerful this suction is.

> 3 dayAfter adopting a second cat I couldn’t believe the increase in hair. I get stressed when my house is dirty so I needed something to use between deep cleans. The brush attachment got the hair off my furniture and it also works to clean up the gunk that gets trapped in the cracks of my coffee table, which I used to clean with a toothpick! My only complaint is the deep reaching attachment that flips out from the base broke immediately. Not a big deal for me but worth mentioning. I chose not to buy a portable one because I didn’t want to worry about charging. This little hand vac does the trick for me. I can’t wait to finish my vacuuming! 3 hours later….. I FREAKIN LOVE my new B&D Dirt Devil Scorpion hand-held plug-in, cleaner of all things vacuum!! Omg life changing! Baseboards, couch and loveseat? Yes indeed! Ceiling fans & lampshades? You betcha!! Curtains between washings, dust around doors, & the reason I bought the thing-the ever present litter box spillage? Ah l-Maz-Ing. This little number is my new best friend. UnFreakinBelievable. I don’t know how I cleaned without it. And all for >$30. I’m in Awe!!
