I didn’t even take these out of the package because as soon as I looked at it I realized this will only work if you have individually moving door handles, which I do not. You will not be able to open the door from the other side while this mechanism is in place. It’s a great idea and I wish I could have used it. Idk if there already is something on this to hold it down but at the very least there should be a way to “disarm” this for when you leave the house, like make it to where it doesn’t block the handle so you can get back in at LEAST.

I have a cat that is smart enough to open our doors. I didn’t mind it much since I was leaving most doors open anyways, but with a baby on the way I wanted to keep the cats out of our bedroom and the nursery and she constantly opened the door to the garage which was really annoying. I was worried about how these would work because the levers on our doors go down on both sides when you open the door, so I thought we might not be able to use it on the garage or while we were in the bedroom, but we just leave the stopper under the handle out and the one above the handle open so that she can’t pull the lever down but we can pull it up to open the door. My assumption when I bought it was that you had to press both the top and bottom buttons at the same time and both arms would fold out of the way together. My 3 year old would not be able to squeeze the top and bottom buttons at the same time. But the actual design is that you only have to push on one button and that one arm can then swing, meaning the 3 year old can mash her thumb on the button and unlock it. The adhesive installation is easy, but easy to install is hardly a benefit if it doesnt actually serve its purpose.

This does the trick! Stops our little one from opening doors and love that it has both the up and down stopper. However, the distance between the two arms seems a bit large and could allow enough room for some door levers to unlatch. We installed one with the lever in the middle and it had enough room for our son to unlock the door but not open it which seems a bit too close for comfort. The rest we installed with the stopper touching the lever on the bottom but once he figures out how to open the door by pushing the lever up it will be game over for these.

Well, I walked my dogs one at a time. I didnt see the other 2 running around the house behind me so works great.

I bought this product to keep my cat out of my bedroom when Im not home. Smart little creature had figured out how to open my door. NOW, with this childproof lever, I have no worries that she can bust in. Its easy to use and easy to install I highly recommend

We have an Australian Shepherd who is too smart for her own good. She figured out how to open the lever style doorknobs in our house. The one door that was a big problem for us was the door to our garage. If we left the house for a time, she would go looking for us in the garage, leaving the door open to any critters and bugs that wanted to come in, and allowing her to go explore the neighborhood as we opened the garage door while pulling up to the house. We had been putting step stools or laundry drying racks in front of the door to block her from getting to the door handle, but this was annoying to have to remember and blocked the door when we got home. I placed one of these door locks on the outside handle of the garage. Now when we leave, we just activate the lock and she cannot escape. If we are working out in the yard or garage, we only activate the lower lock, because she hasnt yet figured out she can lift the handle to open the door, so this allows the door to still be used by people while keeping her inside. We are very happy with this product for this purpose.
