Drill America 3/8-16 UNC High Speed Steel Tap Set

Nicely made taps, but not a set of 1 each of taper, plug, and bottoming taps as described. Replacement set the same so did not bother to return replacement set.

Item not as described and pictured, TWICE! First order received was in a small damaged plastic flip lid box with 3 compartments but only a single PLUG tap. Requested replacement. Received second shipment in 2 days to Amazons credit but again it was wrong! This time i received a similar 3 compartment plastic flip top box with an identical label on it that contained 3 IDENTICAL spiral point taps none of which should have been included in this set!!! Attempted a second replacement request only to have system tell me that amazon could not accept my request at this time!! This is not rocket science. 1 SET of taps as pictured and described = PLUG TAP, BOTTOM TAP, TAPER TAP. There is a reason for each of these taps and thats why i was ordering this item. Can we get it right folks? Clearly whoever is packaging these items doesnt have a clue what the difference is. If you are confused, look at the pictures posted in the listing and compare the items with those pictures.

Works as intended.

One of the taps (the bottoming tap) fell out of the box some time before it got put into the bubble-bag for shipping. If I had _really_ needed the bottom tap I would have raised an issue with the seller but the other two taps did the job for me (it was a through-hole that I ended up using in both cases). Perhaps they could make sure that all of the tap boxes are taped before shipping.... NOTE: You do NOT have to send me a replacement tap!!! This is the first time in my life that Ive needed a 4-48 tap. (for storage spots for the little flat & ball-ended tips of a dial indicator and a little electronic height gauge)

I have bought products from this company before and have been satisfied with their products. With this product the diameter of the shanks was pictured as the minor thread diameter. The set arrived and the diameter of the shanks was the major diameter of the threads. This means that you cannot tap a deeper hole than the cutting length of the tap. This was contrary to Top Dogs question that was answered in 2020: Q: are the 1/4-20 taps like the web page picture, or like the customeer picture. In other words is the shank smaller than the minor diameter? A: As pictured By Top dog on December 7, 2020

The taps look OK. I have not yet used them. However, a set of 3 was advertised and I only got 2 in the package. It was not worth the effort to try to return them, but I feel cheated.

Individually contained in plastic containers so you can isolate them and be able know what they are and what they are I marked them as you can see in the photo.

good quality for the price, they work well.

I’m new to the hobby and broke a tap I purchased from another seller fairly quick so I thought I’d experiment with the set. I’m using a 1/16th to bore out the post and getting beautiful threads. I refer to the set as a cutter, a rough and a finish. I’m using the cutter and rough as often as I can, but some of the posts are so shallow I use the finish because the others won’t bite. I’ve got a dozen cars done already and see these taps working for easily double, triple, who knows how many more.
