Greater than one weekI bought this for my son and was also gifted another of the same model. While one of the two was excellent, the other had poor intonation. In a toy that will give a child their first musical experience, its important that they are exposed to good intonation if you hope to start music lessons when theyre older. On another note, Fisher Price does not state that they use BPA-free plastic - somewhat concerning as my 13-month-old likes to chew on the mallet.

Greater than one weekPurchased this for my one-year old great-niece and she loved it! Her little hands can hold the wand and make beautiful music! The colors are bright and vibrant. She can entertain herself or an adoring audience!

> 3 dayI know that you have to keep children safe and can’t have the string too long, but it must be long enough to actually play it. It’s kind of isn’t :( but removed the string and my grandson enjoys it.

> 3 dayDaughter loves it, but the orange and green key sound a bit muffled / flat. I notice it every time I play something for her, but she doesn’t so I guess it’s okay.

> 3 dayOverall the product is good a serves the purpose. However one small difference from the one I had growing up (other than mine was made of wood!) The one I had played sounds when pulled. This does not. Overall good sturdy product and the string is short enough to prevent your little one from choking. The short string does make it a little more difficult to use. But in today’s lawsuit happy world a necessity. The difficulty measure is the reason for 4 stars. Understandable but that’s my view.

> 3 dayIt’s a great toy. Classic and timeless. I love that my daughter can play it while watching that super popular kids songs show. Helps to keep her from just sharing at the screen. Only issue is the string is too short. Would recommend cutting and lengthening with a price of yarn

> 3 dayThis is a cute and well made toy. It’s a classic. However, the string is 8” long; ridiculously short. It can’t comfortably reach the keys at the far end. What is the point in a musical toy that can’t be played? We will have to lengthen the string before gifting it. Not happy.

> 3 dayBought this for my 6 month old. Yes i know its rated for 18+months, but I wanted to start on some musical skills early. She just wants to chew the stick for now but she is litsening and paying attention when we play. The product is as described. Worth buying. Only thing is I wish the string was longer or one that retracts when need be.

Greater than one weekReasonable price for tried and true kids gift. Granted, it isnt as heavy as the one from my youth (never mind that era) which makes it easier to handle, maneuver, and potentially keep it from becoming a weapon while the tot flings it around (hahaha). The string attaching the drum stick is too short to get solid sound on xylophone - probably to avoid a strangulation hazard. I removed the drum stick from the string which allows for better sound. You can always reattach if tot wants to drag it around in the wheels. Nice gift!!
