> 3 dayYoull notice if you list reviews by recent, that many reviews, are calling out a bad batch of these record weights. It would seem all of the black models are poorly produced in this batch. Hopefully future batches will get back on track and correct these flaws. Mine like all the others has an uneven finish, and the Fluance name is only partially visible. I got lucky in the sense that I didnt have the other common problems that are showing up. The protective fell bottom is securely stuck on, and correctly centered. Also, mine exhibits no visible wobble. That means it is correctly drilled for its center hole. Many appear to be off center. Given the cosmetic blemish is relatively minor on mine (kinda looks like Ive been using it a couple of years), I decided to keep it. It gives it a bit of warm character. It works great, and you can hear how the music tightens up when used on a system with an acrylic platter (or acrylic platter mat). Its almost impossible to find a low profile weight with this much mass, that doesnt cost a couple of hundred bucks. So I think its worth the gamble in ordering one to see if you get a keeper or have to exchange it until you do. Fluance needs to do a recall of these and demand a free couple of batches from whomever is making these for them. It makes Fluance look bad because they are selling a visibly bad looking product, and they are heavy into the lifestyle look with their whole catalog. This just really defeats a good deal of money and effort they spend on promoting that look.

> 3 dayThe record weight helps to stabilize the tone arm when playing a somewhat warped record

Greater than one weekThis is a very substantial record weight at a good price.

Greater than one weekIt does help, it stabilizes the plater speed, but I dont hear a big difference, it does enhance the bass a little, but not to the point that if I forget to put it on the album, I can automatically hear it and jump up and put it on the album. I bought this one because I have a Fluance RT-85N, so I wanted their matching weight which is one of the heaviest on the market.

> 3 dayIve been building stereos for over 51 years. Vinyl is my favorite medium. In all those years, Ive never seen or heard of a HiFi Vinyl Record Weight Stabilizer. I researched and found this one to be suitable for the price and also because I have a Fluance turntable. I put it on with a heavy bass Zeppelin tune and not only did it keep it from skipping, but it also cut down on the feedback I was getting between the speakers and the cartridge. This dampens the vibration of the record to reduce wow and flutter and obviously reduced feedback. This isnt a necessity for the beginner, but a must for the audiophile. It does make a difference.

> 3 dayI bought this for use on a Technics Grand Class SL-1210G. The dust cover has a low profile, so this stabilizer was perfect to fit beneath it, and had enough mass to make it work properly even on heavier weight records. Be careful when ordering this item, though--the first one I received was damaged in shipping, and the rubberized coating had nicks in it on the top. (For what these cost, I expect them to be perfect when they arrive.) But the Amazon return process was smooth and I received a new, undamaged stabilizer to replace it with.
