Funko Pop! Advent Calendar: Marvel - Holiday, Multicolor, One Size

The calendar contains dozens of Marvel superheroes, including Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Black Panther, Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Star-Lord - all dressed to impress in their holiday costumes. Very cute and fun to open for those young and old but the only downfall is that there are a number of duplicates behind the doors. I feel the experience would have been a bit better had each door of the advent calendar contained a different character without duplicates. Other than that, it was a lot of fun opening the different doors to see which character would appear next!

I got this on sale for under $30 (half off the list price), which is less than $1.25 per mini pop. So its totally worth it even though there are some duplicates. The pop designs are all very cute, as we can expect from Funko. So many gingerbreads - The gingerbread characters are all right, but there were quite a few of them -- 13 I think, out of 24, so more than half. A few would be fine, but at that count I thought that style was overdone. I wouldve preferred more non-gingerbread Christmas-themed pops. Many repeat characters - There are just 11 unique characters of the 24 pops. There are so many Marvel characters, so getting 3 Thors, 3 baby Groots, 3 Captain Americas (Steve Rogers), 3 Spider-Mans, 2 Thanoses, 2 Captain Marvels, 2 Scarlet Witches, 2 Iron Mans, 2 Hulks... thats a lot of the same characters! (The only unique characters are Black Panther and Rocket.) Instead of the same characters twice (or thrice), I would have loved to see some other characters like Loki, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Bucky, Dr. Strange, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Falcon or Captain America (Sam Wilson), etc. The duplicates are frustrating. Yes, the duplicates technically have some minor differences so theyre not exactly identical; one snowman Captain America has glitter and the other doesnt, for instance. But Id still call them duplicates. Again, there are so many awesome Marvel characters, I wouldve liked to see some other ones rather than duplicates. Im glad I didnt pay full price for this. Unfortunately, Funko hasnt figured out all the figure balance issues. The baby Groot in the flower pot cant stay up on its own, for instance, so Ill need to put something underneath it for balance.

*EDIT!* Some of the recent reviews with pictures have shown me that I got the SAME 3 SETS of duplicates as others. There was one that mentioned not minding the duplicates and in a mystery sort of purchase I would agree, but for the price AND with the description specifying 24 UNIQUE figures, Im super disappointed and not looking to purchase any more mystery sets for my mom or niece. The glitter ones that come with a stand to have them flying dont even fit with the glitter blocking the connection point so they cant even stand up! Got this to countdown to Winter Break with my students and today’s was a sparkly version of one from the first week. I decided to look ahead (opening the side-the red bags are see through) and even worse than minor variations (like gingerbread Cpt. Marvel in different outfits) there are straight up duplicates!! I can understand in mystery boxes and stuff getting 2 of the same across a couple boxes but in ONE countdown box for over $40????…there’s at least 2 pairs that are the same!!! And I can’t just spin it as a slight variation because of the multiverse! I’m disappointed as a Funko and Marvel fan, I’m just hoping the kids will forget the versions that come up again later. So much for keeping an ongoing community collection! Not worth it.

Started off really cool! The figures are really cute, but about halfway through they started to duplicate with very small differences (one has glitter, one doesn’t, but otherwise exactly the same) 3 Groots so far and it’s only the 14th day! All the exactly same. Kids found this disappointing, especially my son who says “there are a million marvel characters, no need for repeats” Juts seems like whoever made this got lazy. We’ve had lots of other cool advent calendars over the years, this one is the most disappointing

Im giving it 3 stars because I feel like the designers could have done a little better with some of the characters. Some are highly detailed and adorable, and some are just like gingerbread cutouts. There are several that are the exact same figure (2 each of at least 3 different ones) just a slight shade difference, like this one is a slightly brighter color than that one. My son loves it though and as it was a gift for him, thats all that matters. But they could have included different characters or made some of them look a little more Christmasy than looking like an iced cookie of Hulk, for example.

Cool, but has a lot of repeats

Some of the characters were in the calendar more than once which was they only negative for my son. Otherwise he loved it.

Characters are cool but I have many, many repeats. So far I have 2 Captain Marvels, 3 Thors, 2 Spider-Man’s, 2 Scarlet Witches, 2 Thanos, 3 Groots, 3 Captain Americas, 2 Hulks and a single Black Panther and Iron Man. I wish they had more variety. There are some slight variances on a few but I have a couple that are exact duplicates. This might be the last year I do a Funko Advent Calendar. I was very pleased with my calendar from last year (Harry Potter), but this years lacked creativity and was just plain disappointing.

I like the rocket, hulk, groots, captain America spider man, thor, Ironman and scarlet witch. But I didn’t like the multiple of the same pops. I would have liked to see a black widow, Hawkeye, a real captain America pop, a captain marvel that wasn’t just ginger bread multiples. I was alittle disappointed. I loved the rocket, both groots, hulk, the spider man’s are really cool. The thor and the snowman captain America are pretty cool. The package was very sturdy. The pops kept falling down into the bottom one and the doors kept falling off.I ended up putting them in a clear plastic container until I find a safe place for them.
