Better unit than the 401. Compass, battery life and display are clearly superior. I do miss the multi display screen or maybe I just can’t find it. If you are upgrading from the 401 save your band it is much better. I also like the closure on the 401 battery compartment more. If you are waffling between the 401 and 601 and aren’t worried about the ballistic function, just spend the extra 20 bucks you won’t be disappointed.

So far, so good. The crazy heavy rain over the last 2 days has hampered my attempts to go out in the wilderness and put it through the initial paces.

Looks so darn cool, functions nicely! Tons of cool stuff I gotta learn about it tho :/ lol

Anzitutto non è un navigatore, cioè non mostra mappe e percorsi (non è il suo mestiere); e chi ha bisogno di un rilevatore di posizione (ecco il suo vero nome) serio, professionale e affidabile, tipo militari-soccorso-protezione civile ecc è meglio che si orienti altrove: il Foretrex 601 è un aggeggino civile e cinesissimo, non sopravviverebbe 2 giorni in un contesto duro. Ma non è quello il suo scopo: è creato per lescursionista, lappassionato, che lo usa un pomeriggio alla settimana, e per quello va detto che il suo lavoro lo fa: le informazioni essenziali le da, è abbastanza preciso, abbastanza veloce, e sebbene per usarlo sia necessario saperci fare con carte e bussole, per le quali sostituisce il vecchio coordinatometro (che comunque è sempre meglio portarsi dietro), in effetti rende la vita più semplice in unescursione topografica. Morale: vale quel che costa. Rilevatori seri e professionali sono unaltra cosa ma costano anche molto di più. Attenzione: non è affatto a tenuta stagna (cè scritto MIL-STD 810 ma fatevi una risata) perciò se piove, Domopak! E appena potete, procuratevi una custodia da polso (o pettorale) di quelle tattiche (si trovano anche sul web) perché è piuttosto delicato e il cinturino in dotazione è ridicolo. Buon divertimento!

I used Fortrex 301 for years. While it is not the best for actual mapping and tracking, it was OK for what I exactly used the devise - measuring distance, current speed and average speed, time of the trip and time of the day (while down the river backpacking marking waypoints in most cases is too much). Couple features I didnt liked is relatively short battery life and not much flexibility with regards to screen appearance. All of this is well improved with the 601. After I figured the screen navigation and set up, this equipment is not just convenient, Id say it is enjoyable.

Takes a lot of time to figure out but all in all seems pretty good so far. Hasn’t lead me astray yet..

Great device but wish the control buttons were on the top side, instead of the bottom. Makes it a bit awkward to operate

El producto llegó en tiempo y forma, tal como viene especificado, En general el equipo trabaja correctamente, le quito una estrella por que la correa a las pocas veces de uso ya se esta desbaratado.
