> 3 dayI purchased this item on May 17, 2019. It was used once and stored. I took it out to charge for an upcoming trip, and it will not turn on past the startup screen. There is no damage to the device; it has not been exposed to extreme temperature or moisture, or been used in any improper way. This device was charged once, used, and stored. Unfortunately Garmins warranty is for one year. The Inreach Mini is for emergency use, and now I cannot trust their devices because of this. I have a week-long hike in two weeks, and if this had failed during that trip, as a man with a severe bee sting allergy, I would be in a very difficult position if I needed to use the SOS function.

Greater than one weekI dont know whats worse, the hardware or the customer support, but theyre both terrible. Its nice piece of mind, but it doesnt work. Itll tell you msgs are sending, but 10 days later when you get home youll learn that none sent. The tracking isnt accurate, it has a hard time finding a connection, even on a sunny day. The garmin website and customer support among the worst youll find.

> 3 dayI would rather be stuck in a cave during a flash flood with no light than to subscribe to Garmin’s freedom plan.

> 3 dayI am a fly fisherman. When I am not at work, I am either sleeping, fishing or planning my next fishing trip. I am typically going to places far away from cell service and off the grid which very often results in an angry spouse because I have no way of checking in periodically or letting her know I am alright, especially when an unforeseen delay arises. This little device allows me to stay in touch with friends and family along the way and is hands down the cheapest life insurance policy money can buy - because if God forbid I ever truly was incapacitated, help is just one SOS button press away - no matter where I am, anywhere on the globe. I cant believe I did not make this purchase earlier. Do yourself a favor and buy it, right now.

> 3 dayEarly review after 2 uses of 8 hours. Be aware that you must purchase an account package to use this device, which may well end up costing much more than the device itself.

> 3 daySetup has taken hours, with multiple calls to Garnin because of contradictory web instructions and because it just does not work much of the time. The support staff has been very friendly and responsive, but not always too helpful. They tell me it only works with the browser in incognito mode. Then they say it only works if I clear my browser cache, but are unable to say how to do that. I even got on a different computer and the thing will still not import contact edits to the InReach. If there were some other brand that does similar things satellite communication , I would send this thing back
