> 3 dayIf you have an emergency leg cramp in the middle of long ride, this stuff literally makes it go away within a minute. I like to take these on long 4-6 hr rides for a sustained energy boost.

> 3 dayGu seems to do a better job on the flavors than some of the other energy gels, and we love the Gu Vanilla! Our boys love them for biking - it really keeps them going on longer rides, and of course they are great for racing because they go down so quickly. The Vanilla (and all the flavors except banana) do have some caffeine from cola nut - the caffeine is 20 mg/packet (about 1/2 serving of Coca Cola), so take that into account if you are avoiding caffeine or dont want the youngsters to have it.

> 3 dayI’ve used this product for years. When I was a triathlete I used GU so I wouldn’t hit the wall or bonk. Now I’m a tournament Pickleball player. I used GU for immediate energy during play. It works immediately.

Greater than one weekIm sure part of it is psychological, but I always take it before I work out. Whether it is a physical or mental boost, it seems to help me get going.

> 3 dayI have been using them on a few recent long runs and the salty taste is perfect. After a couple of hours on my feet, my stomach cannot handle some of these overly sweet gels, this is where these come in very handy. Finally a gel that actually tastes decent.

> 3 dayI used to use Gu energy gels exclusively for a couple of years when I first started running, and then the last couple of years my wife has been buying other energy gels and jelly beans. I decided to get some more of the vanilla gels since they have slightly higher amounts of potassium than the other products we have been using. However, I removed one star because I just find it hard to use this product when running. The thickness of the gel inside makes it harder to swallow than other similar products and for some reason it just always seems messier and stickier than the other products. I still like it and use it, but when it is gone I will likely not buy more.

> 3 dayI like both the taste and the consistency. It’s vanilla, but not overwhelming and it doesn’t repeat on me like some products do. The packaging is small with no sharp edges. Price is good when compared to similar products. The consistency is closer to pudding than runny liquid so I can eat it in two or three ‘slurps’ without it spilling over my fingers or worse still over the shifters on my bike over 30 seconds or so. I can’t speak to the amount of sodium, caffeine or amino acids but if I’m dragging this always peps me up.

> 3 dayAs a triathlete maintaining nutrition during an Ironman event is critical. Using these products ensures that I am keeping up with what is needed to keep my calories and nutrition equalized during this type of endurance race.

16-04-2025Salted Caramel Gu is a gift from the heavens! I was only able to use chews/chops before trying this because many of the other gels would upset my stomach. I wanted to transition into gels because carrying around a marathons worth of chomps can become a bit bulky. There are a lot of decent flavored gels out there but this one wins on flavor and ease of digestion. I have been tempted to have one as a snack, thats how delicious they are.

Greater than one weekThis is the best flavor! I have tried every other flavor I could find, and this is the only one that I like the taste of and thats not too sweet for me. There is some caffeine in it, but not enough to upset my bowels, and I am VERY sensitive to caffeine (the GU Roctane has too much caffeine for me). Also, I have Ulcerative Colitis and this has not caused/worsened any flare ups.
