10-06-2025Gu seems to do a better job on the flavors than some of the other energy gels, and we love the Gu Vanilla! Our boys love them for biking - it really keeps them going on longer rides, and of course they are great for racing because they go down so quickly. The Vanilla (and all the flavors except banana) do have some caffeine from cola nut - the caffeine is 20 mg/packet (about 1/2 serving of Coca Cola), so take that into account if you are avoiding caffeine or dont want the youngsters to have it.

> 3 dayI always keep a couple of GU Energy Gels in my purse and in my hiking backpack. When my blood sugar plummets during a long day of shopping or out on the trail, I drink one of these. I like the Vanilla Bean flavor as it is light and not too sweet. Within a couple of minutes, I feel ready to go again. I dont leave home without a few on hand.

> 3 dayThese are my go to product with endurance sports. I feel so much better during my long distance rides, runs and swims. They are so little but have the nutrition I need so they are not bulky. I love this flavor the best and feel the caffeine kick gives me a boost but not one that makes me feel shaky.

> 3 dayIve tried many different gels, chews, etc, and Gu is my favorite by far. Many of the other energy gels taste like chemicals and leave a terrible, acidic feeling in my stomach, but Ive had great luck with Gu. The chocolate outrage Gu tastes like chocolate frosting, so good! I thought that Chocolate outrage would always be my number one, until I tried the salted caramel. Wow, it really does taste like salted caramel. It tastes real, not chemical like. Its easy to squeeze into your mouth, provides a quick pick me up, doesnt upset my stomach, and tastes great. Honestly, I piloted this on a 15 mile run, and just the delicious taste alone was enough to make me feel energized! What more could I ask for? Thanks Gu!

> 3 dayDecent flavor and as easy to get down as any gel (which isnt that easy but easier than gummies). I wish they offered a smaller packet because its kind of hard to get the whole thing down, especially late in a run and once youve opened it, youre committed to either finishing it or finding a trash can. Id rather carry twice as many 50cal packs and be able to eat less at a time. The packet offers some excessive recommendations about how many of these to use (1 before starting then another one every 45 minutes). If you follow those instructions, youll probably puke (or want to). . Everybodys different but if youre new to gels and sports one uses them for, dont start by following the directions, start with a much more conservative regimen (like none to start and 1 every 90 minutes or 2 hours) to see how you tolerate it and how often you really need it. Also, they recently started marketing this as something you might eat in casual settings like before going to the gym- thats ridiculous- the only reason to use this product rather than eat real food is if the duration and circumstances of your activity require fuel that a) you can carry with you in short shorts b) you can consume while moving and c) can get your blood sugar up without requiring a fully operational digestive system. Its not a workout enhancer, its just a packet of sugars and electrolytes that tastes good enough that it doesnt make most people sick.

> 3 dayThese are my go-to for long runs. The taste is great and they do what theyre supposed to with an energy boost. I take the first one after 45min, and then one every 45min after that. Definitely need water to stop it gumming up in the mouth, but no digestive issues.

> 3 dayi used to use the power gels from powerbar. They quit making the only flavor i could stand so i needed to find something else. I did some research to find what was the best bang for your buck as far as taste and effectiveness. I came across this salted caramel GU. BOOM...love it....not only does it help me through my runs, but it tastes great. I actually look forward to having it. Maybe its just because i suffered through the taste of the power gels is the reason i appreciate the taste of these so much. Or maybe not? i highly recommend trying it for yourself

> 3 dayI have tried many other energy gels over the years and none have worked as well as GU. I recently started using GU for my long-distance runs and I love it. It gives me the kick I need and even some caffeine to keep me going. I also really like the Salted Caramel flavor. Because it is an energy gel it has to have salt in it. Sometimes this can taste odd, but with a flavor like Salted Caramel it tastes natural and that is amazing when you are ready for a boost during a workout.

Greater than one weekLove these things but I could see myself starting to make my own after awhile. Work great but it would be nice to find a cheaper option. Taste great!
