Let me say first that this is my time owning a carpet cleaner so keep that in mind. The room will get hot and humid but Im guessing thats normal for this or I just overdid it because of how nasty the carpet squares were in the basement. It would be nice if the tanks on it were bigger but I know that would make it even more heavy so I understand why theyre a gallon each. The power cord might be a bit short too but they might all be this long. Make sure to use a proper high suction vacuum on the carpet beforehand. Go in each direction twice all over the carpet so that all the junk in the carpet is removed and doesnt end up in the carpet cleaner as well as the cleaner having to clean it instead of just cleaning the carpet. Pros: The unit does a very good job cleaning the floor and the dirty water tank is easy to empty as well as snap back in. The water/soap tank being in one unit is very nice and its removal is easy as well. I havent used the attachments yet so I cant comment on them but will update later once I do. I used Oxiclean the first time with white vinegar to clean and it did a good job and I just used a pet order cleaner/remover and that did a great job too. There wasnt much to put together when it arrived so that was nice. The pour spout on the front of the dirty water tank is excellent at dumping the rubbish water quickly. Taking the dirty water tank apart to clean is quick and easy and rinsing it out is pretty quick too once you learn what angles to have the water shoot in as you rotate it. The flip up connector that holds the dirty water tank in is quick to work if you just pull up on it with a flick and let it flop down and out of the way. Even though only two screws hold in the handle I have pulled it around and torqued on it getting it to hit certain areas and its rock solid still. This is after 20 hours of use. I had used it over 4 hours in a few a few times while trying to clean the basement. I did have to go up and down the stairs a lot to dump, rinse and fill but thats still a long time of pretty much direct use. It does a very good job of sucking up the water to the point that when all of the soap has been rinsed out of the carpet that there isnt much moisture to suck up. The carpet is a bit damp but not soggy and when you run the unit over it you cant really see anything being sucked up besides a tiny amount of liquid barely sliding up the dirty water tank lid where it enters on top. The price is very nice too after looking at all of the options. Spending more on a cleaner doesnt mean its better or will last longer, thats why I got from all of the reviews here and other legit sites. It really does clean edge to edge of the cleaner because of the brush and vacuum design up front. Cons: The unit is heavy and when you pull back slowly it wants to slide away from the wall slightly so you have to press the side to keep it up against it. Im not sure if its leaking because running one of these creates water everywhere from dumping and loading. The power lever on the base is too small to get with the top leaned back. It really need to have a function to turn off the scrubbers and also to turn off the suction independently. Latching the dirty water tank back up is annoying because as you flip the latch up to lock it in there are times it would miss the edge of the dirt water tank and get stuck up and next to it so its a pain to pop back out and then try to latch it again. This is after everything on the cleaner is wet and dumping it a lot during use. When you press the power button you can see the water that was being sucked up bubble down to the carpet and can see its wet when you move it. The water/soap trigger is not far enough back in the handle and the handle is huge like they made that part for Andre the Giant. After a long time of using it my fingers started to get tired because of this. I dont know if this typical of these machines but it is crazy loud. I use my active noise cancelling earbuds when using it and its still loud, the high pitched part is what gets me. When there is too much foam in the dirty tank the overflow floater pops up and you have to tilt the dirty water tank back to get a few extra passes and then dump it with the container only being half full of water. You have to angle the vacuum piece just at the proper angle to slide it back in after removing it to clean the fuzz filter for the vacuum part of it.

Wow! I had read the reviews, but I still wasnt prepared for how amazing this machine is! We had some horrible stains that we assumed could had been grease dragged in by our mechanic son. We tried different sprays and couldnt get the stains out. My son used this carpet cleaner, and after he went over the stains a few times, they disappeared. I wish I had before photos to show you how great it is. The dirty water also blew me away after he cleaned the room. I had no idea how bad the carpet was, even though its vacuumed at least once a week. The water was full of dirt and cat hair. This machine is worth every penny. I plan to talk my son into cleaning every room in the house now! Highly recommend!!

I’m coming back 6years after buying this to share my love and appreciation for it!! Best investment ever! 6.5years later it’s still transforming and reviving the WHITE upholstered Restoration Hardware chairs I stupidly bought before having **3 children**… The picture doesn’t do it justice. Without this device I would have had to spend hundreds on new chairs, but an hour with this tool every 6 months keeps them looking presentable. 9 times out of 10 I just used the attached handheld hose (vs the full on carpet cleaner) but it’s nice to have both and is not too heavy/cumbersome to move around the house.

I bought this because I was tired of paying carpet cleaners almost the price of this unit for one single visit. We have dogs, and being able to spot clean is important. I thought this would be a useful unit to have. With that said, I didnt want to pay a lot of money for a carpet cleaning unit because I wasnt sure I would use it - and keep on using it. Now Im sure. Ive found that its very useful and I probably have pulled it out ever 3 weeks or so for something. There is something really satisfying about dumping the dirty discharge water down the drain. You really feel like you are making progress on the carpet. However, that can also be a bane because Ive gone over areas of carpet several times and continue to get dirt out of them. Makes me want to just keep on going and going which really isnt practical. You have to decide what clean enough looks like for you and stop at that point. WHERE IT EXCELS: * I think I get my carpet as clean or better than the professionals. Not because it has as much power, but because I use it more thoroughly than a professional might use their equipment. For example, weve had an area of highly tracked carpet that has looked bad for years, even after professional cleaning. I have gone over it 6 times with this unit and it looks far better than it has in years - even after the professional cleanings. I can simply take the time whereas a professional has to move on to another job at some point to make money. If you have time and willingness, Ive found it to be very effective. * It is great for the occasional spill. Seems to clean them up very well. Ive used it on cut berber carpet as well as tightly stitched carpet. Pet stains, wine, and cranberry juice all came out completely. * It is good for over cleaning the highly tracked areas of your carpet. Rather than call in a professional carpet cleaner to do a lot of your house which may not actually need it just so you can get cleaned a highly tracked area, you can focus on just the highly tracked area. AREAS IN WHICH THIS UNIT IS OK: * Its a lot of work to clean your own carpet. The amount of work is proportional to the capacity of the water, solution, and discharge reservoirs. This unit has struck a pretty good balance between those capacities and weight of the unit when full of water. But its still a lot of work. * It takes a long time to do it right. You have to go over every area of carpet minimally at least 8 times. Why? 1) A stroke out and back to lay down the cleaning solution. 2) A stroke out and back to suck up the cleaning solution. 3) A stroke out and back to lay down water only for a rinse. 4) A stroke out and back to suck up the rinse water. 8 times, minimally. Based on my experience though, to really do it right, you will want to rinse at least twice and on the final sucking up of the rinse water, go back and forth a few times, not just once, so the carpet dries more quickly. So to do it right as I see it, you are really covering every square inch of carpet ~14 times. (You have rinse really well or else dirt is attracted to the soap in the cleaner and you quickly end up with dirty carpet again.) And while doing this, you have to keep dumping the dirty water and refilling the reservoir with clean, hot water. It just takes a very long time. CONS: * Mine broke after 4 months. The turbine which spins the brushes quit working. Fortunately, there is a two year warranty and Hoover said it would be covered (in repair as I type this). I talked to the repair shop and they told me to expect to see them regularly because these are built cheaply and the turbines break over and over. IN SUMMARY: If you want a cheap, light carpet cleaner that if you are willing to put in the effort, will clean your carpet well, this seems like a good choice. If you are looking for it to replace professional carpet cleaning, then it will almost certainly pay for itself if you are willing to put in the time and effort. Works well on stains. Strikes a good balance between weight and reservoir capacity. Build quality is suspect, but the warranty is sufficiently long that most people should be able to make it pay for itself many times over vs. paying a professional - as long as you dont mind hauling it to the nearest repair shop every so often. You might do well to go to Hoovers web site and look up the nearest repair shop before you buy this.

My first impression was that this was lighter than most carpet cleaners Ive used, but that does not have an effect on its performance. This shampooer has a very strong suction and is super easy to use. Leaves the carpet just barely wet and the carpet dries very quickly after. Make sure to follow the directions and vacuum first! Also, do a rinse run after you do a shampoo run or the carpet will get stiff. The best for shampooing stairs!

Some reason I thought this was specifically for cleaning pet homes but I misread something somewhere anyways. It took me a couple tries to figure it out. I initially used too much product/water I think and it took more than 24 hours to dry even with using dry strokes. Just using the drying feature doesnt completely dry the carpet either which is kind of disappointing but once you figure out the criss cross method and careful about the amount of water/solution it takes probably 10 hours to dry after you get tired of trying to dry it through dry strokes. The thing I dislike so far is I have used it to clean our apt (its pretty small) but I have had to refill the water tank 3 times but the dirty water tank has barely any water in it. Im a lil concerned about that but maybe I should have researched the type of carpets we have? They are like medium long fibers. Im just concerned theres abunch of water underneath the carpet now... I also have a crappy vacuum cleaner but it usually does an okay job however when going over with the carpet cleaner it continuously spits out balls of hair instead of sucking it up. Even if you use the hose to do that it still spits hair out. Now that could just be the crappy vacuum and the weird carpet we have its harder to pull the hairs out... Overall I do love this as the house smells so much better. We were dealing with my cat marking all over the place and spots still smelling like pee but with this it smells very clean. I do wish the cleaner came in better scent but its better than cat pee! I havent pulled it apart to clean yet as I still have a couple pieces of furniture Im going to clean and then see how that goes. I think this product would be perfect for someone who either has a good vacuum cleaner or doesnt have pets or long carpet hairs.

It’s okay as far as a do- it-yourself carpet cleaner- they’re ALL not fun to use! It didn’t work so well on a thin rug on my hard floor- wouldn’t suck up the water very well- but okay on carpet. The squeegee attachment for hard floors was NOT in the mesh bag or box as described in the manual. I’m impressed with the hand held attachments, though.

Love, love, love this carpet cleaner! Does an outstanding job on my apartment carpets. I even used it on my apartment complex hallway carpet and stairs, which were filthy. Looks like new now! Lightweight, easy to use, easy to clean. Uses very little water and definitely sucks up what is sprayed onto carpet. Carpet dries withi 20 min. Have used it for two years. No issues.

This is a great machine. Simple to use and put together. I can imagine for larger areas you will need to stop and dump the water intake tank, however that should be no reason not to buy it. I was amazed at how well it cleans. We had a professional carpet cleaner come in, and a couple weeks after we needed to spot treat a dog urine mess. I was very much impressed with how much dirt came up, along with the urine, even after the professional cleaning we had done not too much time before. Very much worth the money.
