I greatly looked forward to reading this book, the basis for the movie Just Like Heaven. I had read the reviews saying the book read more like an incomplete screenplay than a book. I agree with those reviews in part. The book move along with a nice storyline for pages at a time, then a few passages of non-idiomatic English or inaccurate cultural details utterly destroy the readers immersion. If you liked the movie, I recommend reading this book, a fuller version of the movie with some completely different plot points. If you didnt see the movie, you can skip this book in favor of one of the authors better written works.

Do you believe in miracles. Well, even if you don’t, this book is good. Isn’t it nice to dream and say “what if”. Was this true? You tell me.

So the first half of this book had me laughing with tears. Yes they did make a movie based on this story, and that movie differed from this book in a few minor and a couple of more major ways. The second part of the book just made no sense probably why the movie did not use that part. No question the author is talented. I have read 4 or 5 of his books and enjoyed them. I did not dislike this book or the basic plot. The kidnapping of the body and the police investigation and the wrap up plus ending was not satisfactory enough for more stars. Do read other books by this author though; he is quite good as he has progressed writing.

Ive read this book in 2 days, thats because I am working. The story might be a fantasy but, hey, thats the beauty of fiction, you could be anything, anywhere, in a wonderland with your imaginations in a well written story. And this novel is well written. No doubt about it.

A wonderful story of connection and love. I just wish we knew what happened next! I miss Arthur and Lauren. Mr. levy I hope they fell deeply in love and lived in the Carmel house and lived happily ever after with a knowing look when asked how they met....

After reading, and loving, P.S. From Paris, I hurried to find another book by the same author. But, the first third of the novel felt as if someone else entirely had written it. The dialogue sounded as if it had been pulled from a first draft, and from one of a first-time writer. - wooden, terribly wordy, at times even silly. Where was the editor in all of this? And then suddenly, right at the point where the main character began to kidnap Laurens comatose body, the quality of writing changed. Description helped to pare the dialogue and ground it. The only echoes of the style of the first third of the novel were the wrenchingly lengthy speeches and letter from Arthurs mother. Again, where was the editor? The premise of the book was genial and it was that that kept me reading. And, there were moments where the connection between reader and characters was strong. But, overall, the excessive chatter made the novel so unbalanced. P.S. from Paris was masterfully written, and clearly Marc Levy has amassed a multitude of fans with other novels that they considered of high quality. I will look for those and forget the one that was rushed to print before it was ready.

I began reading this book years ago, but unfortunately never got to finish it. When I saw the movie version on tv recently, it spiked my interest in it again. The book was even more amazing than I had remembered! This is a very romantic book and a very light read. I work full time, Im a full time student and I have two young sons (4 & 2), and I STILL managed to read it within a week because I couldnt put it down!!! I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, lovely book!!!

Story caught my I interest from page one but found the ending disappointing. Felt there were several things left untold.
