this is really a next gen! i overclocked it to P-core 5.0 and E-core 3.9 . temps at full load 76 celsius. im really happy!

I’m so glad I decided to step up from the 12600T I was planning on using to the 12600K, which is the cheapest Intel CPU that has the efficiency cores. I was nervous at first, because my plan was to build a low-ish power, 100% passively-cooled, internal GPU, no moving parts PC for use in my bedroom, where my previous computers were annoyingly loud. I used a Noctua NH-P1 passive cooler and a Seasonic PX-500 fanless PSU, and my system is not only 100% silent, it turns in impressive benchmark numbers and never gets close to throttling temperatures even after sustained Cinebench runs.

Picked this up to replace my 6th gen Core i5. Running it with a GeForce 1060 so I cant really see how much it helps as Im GPU limited. Will be awesome once I sell a kidney & win the lottery so that I can afford a GeForce 3000 or 4000 series GPU. I paired it with an Asus Z690 motherboard paired with DDR4 memory. You have to choose between DDR4 and DDR5 on Z690, just so you know.

It punches above its weight and is less than $300. You kind of cant go wrong with this one.

This handles my Asus tuf 3070 ti just fine. Elder ring on max settings with no lag. If you want real value then buy the amd 5600x. That’ll also do the job for $70 dollars cheaper. But I enjoy intel.

Be careful with what motherboard you get as some do not seem to support it’s overclocking as well as others so keep an eye out and do your research!

Ive been using my old 4th gen i5 4690k for almost a decade, paired with a GTX 960 and then an RTX 3060 it was capable of mid-high settings for games like Arma 3, Dying Light, DayZ, 7DTD. Following some driver issues, I decided to put together a new pc with new i5 12600k and MSI MAG b660.
