Great CPU, the unlocked chip is great if you want to overclock. Do yourself a favour and buy a water cooler for the CPU, mine is running at 4.9Ghz and the temperature is 28C after running Fallout 4 on the highest settings for hours. Chip does not come with a cooler, just so you are aware.

Poor Packaging. Chip knocked out of box upon arrival. For over $400, INTEL went cheap on the box and put the chip at risk. I Love the idea of a 40th Year collectors CPU. The i7 8086 is a Server Quality CPU with the speed and 12 threads a busy office network needs.

Expensive, now we have a code error that reduces processor speed? Come on Intel for 400$ this needs to be replaced.

The Intel Extreme Tuning Utility tells me that this thing sucks enough Wattage to reach 5.7 GHz. Gotta say I have to believe it.

Excellent processeur, facile daccès. Il est livré avec un refroidisseur ave un radiateur un peu léger à mon sens. Si les futurs acheteurs ont les moyens, je conseille dacheter un refroidisseur plus efficient.

I just purchased the new Macmini 2018 and debated at first what CPU upgrade to get. I knew I didnt want the entry level i3; the other choices were the i5-8500 or this i7-8700 for $200 more. I am very happy I opted for the i7 update. The i5 was 6 core/6 threads, no hyperthreading, this i7 is 6 core/12 threads WITH hyperthreading. I have a Mac program that scans audio files and analyzes them to level the sound level equally (program is iVolume, for windows and mac, highly recommend it). This addresses the issue when playing music where one song is too soft, another too loud and constantly adjusting the volume. iVolume analyzes and writes the sound level info back into the audio file for iTunes to use to adjust the relative volume. Program is written to use as many threads as available, and will even show you how many it is using. On a MacBook pro from 2017 running an i7 7700HQ, scanning 7000+ songs in my iTunes library with iVolume would take 1-1/2 hours using 4 cores/8 threads. The Macmini with the i7-8700 took 20 min. Note, a third of these songs are classical music pieces/movements, some as long as 20-30 minutes, with very wide dynamic range. CPU temp never went past 90C with internal fan at max. Good indication that the newly designed cooling system in the new Mac is doing its job and is well capable of handing this i7 (contrary to some reviews which questioned whether the small form factor of the macmini would create a thermal problem with the higher end CPUs.) So, if you came here to read reviews on the CPU as part of considering whether it was worth the upgrade in the Macmini 2018 (like i did before purchase), I can highly recommend the upgrade, cost is worth it...at a minimum at least get the i5 upgrade over the entry level i3. Saving up $$$ now for a eGPU external add on (this macmini has four Thunderbolt 3 / 40 Gbps ports), which means Ill also have an excellent gaming rig when booted into Windows/Bootcamp. Oh, and I frequently have 2 to 3 Windows and macOS virtual machines running concurrently as well, with each VM assigned 2 virtual cores. One VM running Windows Server 24/7. Also usually have Xcode running, Plex Media Server, serving an entire household with family often watching multiple content on multiple devices concurrently, transcoding as needed, plus MS Office apps. This CPU doesnt even blink, running typically at 45C temp with all the programs I just mentioned; occasional bursts up to mid 50C.

Ich brauchte einen Top Prozessor mit Leistung und Overclocking Potential. Und genau das hat der i7-8700k.
