Jabsco Manual Pump Assembly f/29090-Series

> 3 dayI have a 1998 REGAL Commodore 258 with a Manual Toilet Model 29090-0000. The unit is plumbed through a saltwater seacock and is above the water line. The toilet is about 8-10 feet from the seacock. The problem was that the pump handle would not go up and down ... possible corrosion issues. Get some old towels out to absorb any liquids that might seep out. The first thing I did was unscrew the 6 screws holding the pump to the base (4) and elbo (2). They came right out. I used a long craftsman 12 screw driver. Thanks to a tip I read on another review. The unit comes with 2 important rubber seal/checkvalve type gaskets. No other parts were needed. The second thing I did was with an electric screwdriver loosened the stainless steel clamps. Third was disconnecting the existing hoses from the pump. Since the pump was now movable, is was easier to get the hoses in a position to twist and pull them off. Once the old pump was set aside, I poured 1 liter of water down the toilet water source input hose that is connected to the seacock to make sure there was a clear path to the bottom of the boat. The boat was up on a lift. Water flowed out at a steady rate. Next reconnect everything, and pour 2 liters into toilet bowl for a prime. Lowered boat into the saltwater, pumped about 6-8 times and water began filling in the bowl. Ran about 4-5 gallons through the system checking for leaks. Works great. Nice to have a functioning head!

> 3 dayI would have loved it, but it is a head pump. YEEECH. Works just as expected. Ive installed and rebuilt at least a dozen of this pump around the marina. and with the proper care, it will past and last.

> 3 dayI needed to replace the base gasket but it was easier and more economical to replace the pump assembly too.

> 3 dayPerfect replacement pump four our toilet in our boat. Very easy to install. One thing to be aware of... it did not come with a joker valve installed in the output fitting. I didnt know this until after installing the pump when I noticed I was getting back fill from the holding tank. I guess you have to buy this separately, which I did and now all works fine.

> 3 dayIf you are rebuilding the pump on your marine head do not by parts and tear the pump apart to replace them. This pump assembly updates your head to the new style head, the only difference is the pump. Also, you remove two hose connections to the old pump, four screws and this goes back on very easy. I have dissassembled replaced parts and reassembled these pumps (more times than I wanted) over the years and this is the only way to go. If you check the price for a rebuild kit you will find little difference in price and this essentially gives you a new head. (almost). My 15 year old head is like new after replacing the pump.

> 3 dayPlanned obsolescence. Gaskets and parts jus stop working well in the third year. On the third replacement in 13 years. Cheap

19-11-2024This item is great if you have an older Jabsco MSD (head) and cant figure out which rebuild kit to choose. It installs quickly and easily, though none of the paperwork in the box tells you how. (It is all about new head installation.) Go to their website and watch the videos. It DOES come with a joker valve (one review said it does not), but for some reason, only one mounting screw. ( Not sure why one... 4 are needed, but being stainless going into plastic, your 4 old ones will work fine.) Big surprise (not) - this part is $30 higher at your local boat parts store... Job not even as messy as I feared. I made sure the MSD was flushed with clean (lake) water, and darn sure holding tank was pumped out. Maybe 1/2 cup of water came out of supply hoses. Not sure these Jabsco heads ever work great, but if you have to deal with one, this is a fairly painless way to go about it. Now my head is the latest model!
