I needed another USB drive for keeping an OS ISO file on and 32GB is more than large enough. When I created the file, it took a VERY long time to complete. After running Crystal Disk Mark (photo attached), the reason became apparent. I wanted to return it, but Amazon was kind enough to send me another drive and not send the original back. Well, the second drive was identical to the first with virtually the same write speeds. The numbers speak for themselves. Over the past few weeks, Ive come across this problem with multiple brands of 32GB USB drives. Read speeds are decent, even good, but write speeds are so slow that the drives are not practical for any kind of use.

i think the speed of these drives is not that great. but the price is excellent and it is a brand name so probably wont die on you and is backed by a warranty. i wouldnt use them as my main usb drive but probably good to keep a few of these around in case a friend wants to borrow a flash drive.

Not the fastest you can get. Im getting 16 mb/s of write speed and I think there are other products that can go as fast as 60mb/s. Wish I have researched some more before buying this one, but it is just fine if you dont care a lot about speed.

Speed test using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test on a mac without reformatting. 1gb Stress Test: 22.4 MB/s (write) 109.1 MB/s (read) 5gb Stress Test: 20 MB/s (write) 109.7 MB/s (read) Bought this to backup Windows laptop OS and Recovery Drive which is a bit of an overkill.

Easily the worst flash drive I have ever used. When I received the order from Amazon I plugged it into my computer to backup and noticed it was taking hours to run, so I ran some tests with this flash drive to compare it to some older flash drives and this performed far worse than the old technology. Test computer: Older computer with USB 2.0 (not 3.0) Flash drives tested (all FAT formatted): 1. Kingston DT100G3 (subject of review) 2. Kingston DataTraveler DTI/8GB (roughly 5 years old) 3. SanDisk Cruzer 2GB (well over 5 years old) The Test: No other programs running. Xcopy script to copy files to the target flash drive. The same script and files were used for each flash drive. Plugged in #1 to USB 2.0 port Ran test for one minute Removed #1 and plugged in #2 in the same port Ran test for one minute Removed #2 and plugged in #3 in the same port Ran test for one minute The Results: 1. Kingston DT1000G3 (subject of review): 57 files/56MB 2. Kingston DTI/8GB: 283 files/143MB 3. SanDisk Cruzer: 525 files/158MB After being a Kingston flash drive user for years, this will be the last one I purchase.

    1. It is not that large storage, but given that this is just for a specific event series of photos, then I know what capacity is, the size of all files, and this is economical to use and give to the ones who asked for them.

I am writing this review because I got so pissed off ! We purchased Qty.5 of these piece of crap drives for about $9.95 each. We also purchased Qty.5 of Transcend 32GB JetFlash 790 USB 3.0 for $9.49 each. We also had Qty.5 of Generic brand USB 3.0 drive, 32GB which we paid $9.00 each from online. We used these drives to image total of 250 computers. The bottom line, it took Transcend drive 18 minutes to finish imaging a computer. Identical condition took Generic brand about 22 minutes. A DRUM ROLL PLEASE..... IT TOOK MORE THAN 42 MINUTES TO IMAGE A COMPUTER USING THESE KINGSTON DRIVES in identical condition. Holy cow..Stick me with hot poker please.... We bought these Kingston drives because we have used many, many Kingston SSD HD drives to replace laptop drives. A little difference in performance is understandable. But if you are taking 150% MORE SLOWER than a your rival, please throw your products in trash can. I got so pissed off, I threw these in my trash can. Very disappointed with Kingston !
