I bought this strainer to be easier to clean than my present wire screen type, which it is. It will probably last forever. Two disadvantages: the holes make up a smaller fraction of the surface, so it drains slower (which I knew in advance), and the edge is rolled (folded over), which reduces the nominal 4.5-inch width to 4.375 inches and makes the edge twice as high (which I didnt know in advance). This may seem petty, but it does makes for a sloppier fit than the strainer its replacing.

Keeps the stuff from going down the drain. Still let’s the water drain and doesn’t leave puddles in the sink. Allows it to completely drain.

Had nothing to keep items from going into garbage disposal. Now I do!

If you oder this product make sure you DO NOT order the black painted model. The black model is very thinly painted and comes off very easily. Vendor will not refund if it used (about 2 weeks old). My bad for not seeing that detail. Lesson learned.
