Very disappointed with this useless device. I got this to read library books and since it has Overdrive already built in I expected it to be easy. Firstly, setup was so frustrating because the virtual keyboard threw up extra characters no matter how carefully I tried to type. It took me six tries to get it connected to my wifi. Then about 10 tries to get to my library books. Then it only showed a partial listing. I could not see any of my wish lists or manage my holds. The Kobo desktop program which they stated could be used to manage the device really was nothing more than an attempt to sell you books from their store. It’s going back and I will avoid Kobo in the future.

Very easy to read and battery life is outstanding. I used it an average of an 1-2 hours a day for 11 straight days and the battery was still at 40%. I bought this after my sone and wife raved about theirs and they were right.

Took some time getting use to but I love reading on the device. It’s perfect with my kobo plus subscription

It’s a very promising reader, hardware and UI. But looking onto the software last update - Dec 2022 (6 month ago) - it seems Rakuten considers it to be stable enough. Unfortunately the stability is far from its competitor. During the only day of usage I noticed: chapters aren’t recognized in 80% of epub books (where kindle shows them fine), remarks are not supported (no reaction on tapping), books with 5000+ pages are slow to turn pages in (and one pretty huge epub even hanged and then causes reboots every attempt to turn the page while kindle digested it pretty well. I blame the pages counter in the footer. Need to admit Amazon kindle doesn’t even show that counter, which I frankly dislike, while Rakuten dares to support pages but without working around the performance issue). The font size is jumping up and down book to book. The most gaps are in the Cyrillic letters support - text renders fine, but you cannot select/highlight anything, and the read progress shows always 1%, and each 3rd page has one damaged word (like “da rÙolmaged”), and you cannot search - the keyboard has no cyrrilic letter. The pluses are there too: compact size, thoughtful UI (slide on the left to dim the light - very nice feature), decent light - cold and warm, usable dictionary. But the immature software spoils the good impression (Rakuten, maybe get Ukrainian QA engineers, not only they are diligent but can cover both latin and cyrrilic books)

I bought this for myself because Ive never had an ereader and books are getting more expensive. I also live with too many people in a small space to have books everywhere! This allows me to read whenever I want and is easier on my eyes than using my phone or computer.

A step up from my last reader of 3 years ago. Faster processor so more responsive however battery life is less so needs charging more often

Im beginning to love this ebook reader. I load my books using calibre ang it works fine. You need a bit of patience because loading sometimes takes awhile. It has bluetooth but only works for headphones.

Ive been using this for two months. its my fifth e-reader (three kindles, and this is my second Kobo) and Im very happy with it. Its fast, the screen is great (300DPI, same as my previous reader). I havent tested the waterproof feature yet (and dont intend to!).

Ironic that I’m writing this review on Amazon itself, but I’m trying to get *away* from using most Amazon services. I got myself the Clara E2 to replace my Kindle Paperwhite, and it’s perfect. Easy to set up, integrates seamlessly with Overdrive/Libby, and I love that it can also play audiobooks and has bluetooth. Highly recommend if you’re trying to get away from the Kindle ecosystem.

The Kobo reader can render ePubs where Kindle readers do not or can not. That was Amazons decision. It was a deal breaker for me. The Kobo Clara 2e is everything I expected and more. I dont think anyone can go wrong with this ereadrer for the price. The only thing that I dont like is the price of eBooks on the Kobo store. they are considerably more expensive. I dont know why. So, I dont use the Kobo store.
