> 24 hourI love my Libra 2! This was my first e-reader, and I am blown away by how much I enjoy it and how many more books I read in any given month because it’s so easy with this! It is very light and easy to hold and easy to press the mechanical buttons to turn the page, which I love. The finger swipe to adjust brightness is great, and the angled side makes it easy to rest it in one palm. Battery life is sufficient but I don’t really have anything to compare it to. The integration with overdrive is amazing so I can easily check out ebooks from my library on the Libby app and read them on the Libra. I have also bought books from the kobo store to read and transferred epic books and PDF books from my computer with the included cable using Adobe digital editions software and that process was not super convenient but also not too much of a hassle. Overall I love this thing and can read outside in the blaring sun or inside late at night with gentle yellow light so it doesn’t strain my eyes. My only gripe is that the highlighting process is not very ergonomic and it is error prone, and I have to manually transfer highlights to my computer as exported text files rather than integrating them with an app like Readwise. Also, I am a heavy user of the Pocket app for news and web articles, and although there is integration with the Libra 2, it doesn’t have the ability to save your highlights to Pocket which is really the only reason I use Pocket so I was really disappointed. Basically I don’t use Pocket and instead use this exclusively as an ebook reader with my overdrive account, but it is absolutely perfect for that and I highly recommend!

> 24 hourThis is excellent. I love that I can connect to my library and check books out directly from the tablet rather than from another device. The features are awesome, it works perfectly. I have no complaints

> 24 hour3 stars of 5 — cant recommend purchasing at this price. Kobo is supposed to have three things going for it, when compared to the Amazon Kindle: (1) checking out library books; (2) less intrusive advertising; and (3) less tracking/selling of your personal data. It rates poorly in all three categories. As far as the core purpose, reading ebooks: this Kobo is every bit as good as the comparable Kindles. I like the shape and heft of it — its more substantial than the smaller Kindles, which is better for me. Theres more than enough lighting, font, and other options to keep me reading. Theres even a Dyslexic-style font, which helps many people who simply find it difficult to move from the printed page to ebooks. Checking out library books isnt that much easier on the Kobo, because the default search takes you to purchase options, so it takes several clicks to check out the book. I found it easier to find books on the Librarys site, and follow the prompt on the Kobo after... which is no different than for Kindle. Likewise, if you discount the Kindles screensaver adverts, the Kobo pushes you just as hard towards Kobo purchases as Amazon does towards its ecosystem. And as for privacy, its hard to independent evaluate the difference. Amazon makes a lot of money from data gathering, sharing, selling and its hard to imagine that Kobo can afford to turn all of that down. So in the end, I find the Kobo simply to be a more expensive competitor, without the UI (or privacy) benefits we might see if it were an Apple product. Consequently, I dont see much reason to go with Kobo unless you really dont want give more money to Amazon.

> 24 hourI already own a Kobo Libra H20 . Overall I am happy with the Kobo Libra 2. It has an additional feature that I was looking forward to. It can play audio files. Unfortunately, it can only play audio files that you buy from Kobo. So if you want to upload your audiobooks, language courses or music, it will not work at all.

> 24 hourThe kobo doesn’t allow you to download other apps that have books on it. It does however let you borrow books from the library if you make an overdrive account. It is lighter than most eReaders. The screen is clear and can adjust the brightness. Not a bad eReader just wish it had more to offer.

> 24 hourI wanted desperately to love this e-reader, I value accessibility and was over the moon with the hyped overdrive capability and epub use-ability. I scoured reviews and spent weeks deciding, and was beyond disappointed when I got the reader set up. It was not clearly stated was how epubs are read on the device, they require the use of Adobe Digital Editions and and activation/download via PC. For me personally, I do not have regular access to a PC which means in order to download epubs I would have to seek out PC sources where I could download the necessary Adobe software to transfer over the ebooks. Not only does the aforementioned pose significant issues but the capabilities with overdrive are lack luster. My library card gives me access to three separate library systems and in order to sync up my loans I needed to sign out of my over drive account and switch systems despite my library card and overdrive account granting access to each system. You also cannot search in all of your accessible overdrive accounts via the device and must sign in and out to see if one of your libraries carrys the book you are searching for. Which wouldnt be an issue if the sign in was easy, unfortunately it is not and all credentials must be re-entered each time, a difficult task with e-ink and secure passwords. At this point I wish I had just gotten the kindle, I cant read most epubs on this device and it doesnt work with overdrive as advertised. So for me there are no upsides to this device, kobo has a smaller and often more expensive library compared to kindle, you are forced into using Adobe software to read epubs which strands you if you dont have regular access to a PC (at that point I would rather support calibre to convert the epubs to mobi, whats the difference if both devices require file conversion?), and the overdrive capabilities are clunky and unreliable.

> 24 hourI have the first version of this eReader, which I love. But this new one is even better. First and foremost - - the backlight. Version one had inconsistent lighting. The left hand side of the screen was a little lighter than the rest of the screen. It wasnt a deal breaker, but it was annoying. Well thats gone now. The screen is perfectly and uniformly lit. Second, it seems like the text is even crisper than before. Maybe its the better consistency of the lighting, but this text just seems more clear. Third, they moved the power button. That makes more of a difference than I thought it would. The version one power button is a lousy button on the side that never quite felt right. And if you have a case on your reader, it made the power button almost inaccessible. With the power button on the back of the reader, its now easily reached, even with a case. Finally, the USB-C port. Nice touch. All in all, definitely a worthwhile purchase.
