Greater than one weekFor the price I was surprised the pans were only in cardboard. To store the paints they must be slid into the box. The paint needs to be fairly wet to get a smooth coat. They keep a nice shimmer when dry and can be used on white paper. I ran a thick band over some watercolors I was swatching out. The pearl color showed up letting the color of the dried paint come through.

> 3 dayThese gansai watercolors have an intensely brilliant shimmer compared to many of the metallic and pearlescent watercolors Ive had the opportunity to try. Superb watercolor binder and flow (reworking after its dried is no problem, as long as the paper will withstand it). Very glad to have gotten these and would recommend (but Im not a professional, so YMMV) The aqua watercolor is the 904 Champagne Gold. The purple, orange, & blue watercolor is 905 Light Gold the burgundy & teal watercolor is handmade inks with 902 Red Gold

> 3 dayLove these colors. I use the gold a lot, the copper is quite pretty, and the silver adds beautiful highlights. We pull them out every time at Ladies Paint Night. The girls are addicted. Spray to hydrate, and then let the paints dry naturally. Havent had any problems with this method.

21-11-2024These are wonderful! I use them mainly for watercolor and occasionally calligraphy. Very creamy without being too thick so its still easy to move around. The quality for the price is amazing. I would say only one color is weaker than the rest. It still gets 5 stars because the weak color is buildable so you can still make it look as good as the others, it just takes a little more work. Love these

19-11-2024For what they are, metallic watercolors, they are the best Ive used at this price point. More transparent than other metallic options (like paint markers) allows for overlay techniques and adding shine and details on top of other mediums like watercolor or pencil drawings. They have a strong metallic look to them when you move the paper under light, but transparent enough not to be a solid color. Not as good for pure gilding as a metallic marker might be, which is truly opaque. They layer with themselves okay, but not great, so if you really want a super solid metallic color that is solid no matter the angle of the paper, go with something else like metallic paint marker or metallic oil pencil. But if you want to add neat shimmer and gold effects without completely blocking out the drawing and details underneath, these are excellent for that.

> 3 dayMore paint here than I anticipated! Makes a great addition to watercolor painting. Way easier and more precise than gold leaf. Way prettier than pen. Value good enough that I don’t mind letting the grandkids use it!
