> 3 dayMy 16 turbo fan finally quit on me right in the midst of a SoCal heatwave so it had to be replaced as quickly as possible. We used an inexpensive box fan we had to start with but had to be on high speed in order to tolerate the heat & that means a lot of noise. I decided to give this fan a try & I am so glad I did! We dont have a working a/c right now & with 4 kids in college this year, it will remain unrepaired for a few more years. This fan is for the master br which unfortunately is the hottest room in the house since its upstairs & faces south. The fan arrived completely put together, just needed plugging in & turning on. And what a nice breeze it puts out, even on low speed. It is positioned in front of the window by the bed so it can bring in the cooler night air & just move the air around in the daytime. It runs 24hrs a day & is fairly quiet for a fan its size but it isnt silent by any means. Ive never had a fan that is silent. The temp the 1st few days we had it were in the mid 90s & made it tolerable to be in the room only using the medium speed which is a relief knowing I can go to the high speed if needed next time were over a 100 again. We usually turn it down to low for sleeping as the outside temp drops a lot at night. Its not a/c but so far, its the best fan Ive used since the a/c broke 6yrs ago. Weve had all styles of fans & the last one, a turbo fan was the best until this one. Very glad we tried it & absolutely recommend it.

> 3 dayI bought this fan several times, its reliable and efficient. The wind machine does make a lot of noise but that suits my purpose as I tend to keep the fan running all day as background noise. I live in the city, and its pretty noisy, so this fan helps muffle out those unpleasant sounds. Ive had wind machines for years and the motors never gave out. Only reason Ive ever really had to replace them its because the casing of the fan, which is not heavy duty plastic tends to break very easily. But only if youre not handling it with care. I also like how powerful it blows air. These fans tend to accumulate a lot of dust, but they have screws in the back of the fan that allows you to open them and clean them. Ive recommended this fan to family members and Friends but if youre looking for a fan that makes no noise this is not the fan for you.

> 3 dayThe air in our 1,000 sq ft apartment gets stale and I am not a fan of air conditioning. We have a/c but I prefer a fan to move the air. So I bought two of these fans. One for the living room and one for the bedroom where there is no a/c. The base of these fans is wide and sturdy. I have one fan in the living room on the floor where it can tilt up and move the air. It is handy for air drying clothes on an indoor umbrella clothes line when you cant put the clothes outdoors (like we cant) and dont want to scorch the clothes in the dryer. It moves the air around the clothes enough so they dry faster than without the fan and doesnt allow for a musty scent on humid days. The fan in the bedroom is sitting on top of an aquarium tank cover to save floor space and titled slightly downwards into the room. The cord to fan is adequate, neither too long nor too short. The control mechanism is in the back of the fan and it is easy to use. Just turn the knob. Fan blades are well protected from little hands and paws which was important with a curious cat around. I really like the power of these fans even at lowest setting. As far as noise, my hepa air filters are louder so I dont really notice if the sound is loud or not. My upstairs neighbors in the apartment are louder than anything we have in the house except for maybe the vacuum.

> 3 dayI like the look, the quality and the air flow.. What I dont like is that the controls are in the middle on the back. Its minor, but its an inconvenience. It would be better if the controls were on the top where they are easily accessible

> 3 dayForce of air is great but the turn dial; on, off, different settings, repeatedly comes off! Very frustrating.

Greater than one weekMy Lasko helped me get through a very warm Washington summer. I have no air condition in my apartment and this kept it cool enough. I would open up all the windows at night and pushing aside the curtains. I had the fan running near the patio door to really push the cool air in. I also had a smaller fan in the bedroom. Once it started warming up a bit the next morning, I closed everything up and kept the fan running on high. It must have worked because one Monday I had a crew of 4 electricians come through my apartment checking all the circuits and they noted my place was a lot more comfortable than the others. But I want to clarify that it was still warmish because this is NOT an A/C and if a fan is pushing warm air, you are still going to get warmish air that has been cooled somewhat by the circulation. But it did its job by keeping a breeze going and circulating the air so I wasnt sweltering. Is it noisy? Yes. Naturally, as you lower the speed, the less noise it makes, but it does make some noise. It didnt really bother me because I can tune it out while reading a book or am working on my laptop. I just view it as white noise. Quality is a tad less than what I would except for $51, with the case being a bit flimsy, but it handled being knocked over twice by the dog (onto the concrete patio floor) so it is strong enough to deal with a few blows . Overall, I am quite satisfied with the Lasko. Update June 2018: I still have this fan and it has withstood 24/7 running during the summer months for the past two+ years (where temps have reached into the mid 90’s) and we are looking at the same for this summer. The noise has faded into the background and I consider it white noise now. It has never overheated and outside of needing a good cleaning, has held together extremely well. It is currently sitting next to the open patio door pushing some of the cooler late afternoon air into the apartment. Tonight I will move it into the bedroom and place next to an open window for a cooler sleep. Again, it won’t replace an a/c, but until I can afford one this has helped keep me comfortable.

> 3 dayI have heat intolerance and am unable to sleep at night without a fan on, especially since the central air in our home does not go below 70°F. I have been through dozens of fans, and many different types; from stand up oscillating fans to table fans to box fans and window fans, too. This fan BLOWS!! And I mean that as a compliment. It far exceeds in strength, durability, and convenience than many comparable types and brands, even those 2-3 times its price range. I LOVE this fan! Time will tell how it holds up with 3 destructive children 3 years and up(theyre all good kids but they are kids, lol.) Cons- Could be 3 taller. An elevated bed means you will probably need something to sit in on if you need it to blow directly towards you when you are sleeping. Unless only you require a fan and you are an edge of the bed sleeper. Pros- built DURABLE. Thick plastic housing. A MUST have for parents of small children. Fan blades set deep inside, hard for little fingers to get in the spaces in the cover. Very powerful on high, with great circulation:can cool an entire medium room no problem. Quiet in relativity to its strength; I would prefer it slightly louder for white noise. Easy to carry; lightweight. Indoor/outdoor versatile. I highly recommend this product. I am looking to purchase another one prior to summer to cool another bedroom. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

> 3 dayHeat struck quickly this summer and I needed a close-to-the-floor fan for the dog. This nice fan fit the bill nicely. Its quiet enough that she can sleep undisturbed, but delivers a good stream of air to effectively cool her in the heat of the day. Plus, it was delivered 4 days before the earliest projected delivery date. Win Win! BUT, it didnt last very long. Purchased it July 15, 2021 and by July 3, 2021, the on/off/speed knob on the back just spins freely. It will cost me more in time, money and inconvenience to ship it back for repair or replacement (of course I threw the box away) than it will to buy another, so shopping locally this time. CORRECTION: Apparently, that knob unscrews. My nephew fiddled with it and it works perfectly again. In the nick of time before I bought a new one.

> 3 dayI like this fan, especially the white noise when I fall asleep. But, it stopped working and only came with a 1 year warranty. I was surprised by how little of a warranty it has when Vornado has a 3 year warranty. This thing is well built but did not last long. Disappointed.
