Thickness and warmth don’t really apply to LEGOs. My 5 & 9 year old granddaughters loved it !! Consider the gift successful.

Lego has come an awfully long way from when I was a child and I must admit that Im seriously impressed with direction that it has come. No longer do you get just the basic bricks and have to let your imagination do most of the work. Now the kits really do resemble what they are trying to. The Disney Frozen II themed Arendelle Castle is a three story castle. The front of which looks like a castle with the towers, flags, etc. and the back being open revealing an attic, bedroom replete with bed and a throne room allowing you to play with the included Frozen figurines. It doesnt stop with the castle however. You also get a small bakers stand, a royal dock replete with boat and a fishmongers stall where the fisherman can sell his catch. The figurines you get included in the set are Anna, Kristoff and Elsa but you also get a couple of birds that can sit on the window ledges of the castle or the fishmongers stall and a cat. Everything you need to let your childs imagination run riot. I must admit that I dont know that much about Frozen but my daughter is a huge fan and she couldnt wait to start building this playset. It is 521 pieces and takes a couple of hours to build but there is nothing that is very difficult about putting it together. The instruction are very clear and easy to follow. This is a great playset in its own right and also a great way to get your children interested in Lego. I played with Lego when I was a child and had some very fond memories of it (apart obviously from standing on the little square 4 bricks which I remember doing). Now my children are enjoying what I used (albeit with much more sophisticated sets). If your child likes Disney Frozen, Lego or both then you cant go wrong with this.

This is the second Frozen Lego set Ive gotten recently, and I have to say Im a fan. For starters, its nice to see Lego kits that appeal to girls a bit more than they have in the past. When I was a kid, I wasnt encouraged to play with Lego; they were for boys. As with most of the larger Lego sets, they break the build up into sections, so that its easy to break it up if you cant sit down and build the whole thing at once. Each section is partitioned by their numbered bag system. The instructions are very easy to follow. What I really like about this set is that it offers more than just one Elsa/Anna. There are several variations so you can really play different scenarios. I did not build this one, as I want to give it to my daughter for Christmas. She has really gotten into Lego recently, and its something I want to encourage. That on top of the new movie coming out will make this a top gift under the tree this year. I have every expectation that this will have the same quality as the other set Ive gotten recently ( a functioning jewelry box set). This would make a fantastic gift for any kid you know thats crazy about Frozen and Lego.

So on the plus side, you get updated clothes on the Anna and Elsa mini dolls, and a Kristoff (not sure if hes ever been in a set before, we didnt have him). Id prefer these be regular lego style rather than in the Friends theme but thats true of almost all of the Princess sets. I dont think this build is as intricate or cool as the Frozen 1 themed castle that was just re-released but still pretty cool. Its also a little bit fragile. Builds used to be better with baseboards but I guess they were harder to display or something. It took me about an hour to build while my 4 year old played with the mini dolls and boat and stuff you build in the early steps. There are some cool things included, including a pretzel, and a bunch of stickered pieces. Like pretty much everyone else thinks, itd be better if the pieces just came printed instead of requiring stickering but so be it. Youre pretty much buying this for the updated dresses but your kids will have fun playing with it until they break it. :)

Arendelle Castle Village is a charming set with a lot of playability. If you are a fan of LEGO Disney, Frozen / Frozen II, Anna, Mattias, Olaf, or of LEGO, or you think you might be, then youll enjoy this set. The set has some unique pieces including artwork, a present, and roof elements. Great theme elements include a pumpkin, a pretzel stand with a variety of pastries, a fish market, a bird feeder, and a spyglass. I also like that the colors in the set are very lovely rich jewel tones paired with neutral sand tones. Minidolls included in this set are Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, birds, fish, and a crab. The pieces come in 7 main bags, with smaller bags inside the main bags. One of the bags is not numbered - it is easy to identify and contains a small number of large elements including 3 lavender 8x16 baseplates, a boat, and a trellis piece. There are two sheets of stickers, one of which is sparkly. When you build it, the instructions will have you build using the pieces from the bags labeled 1, then once those bags are completed, continue with the pieces from the bags labeled 2, and so on. Ive found that its useful to open all of the bags for the particular number, but keep the pieces a little bit separate. The pieces arent randomly distributed between bags - instead, all of the pieces of a particular type may be in one or two bags, so if you dump the bags out and keep the pieces slightly separate, once youve found which pile your piece is in, you may find the rest of them in that same pile or in that one and one other. The instruction booklets are numbered 1 and 2, and they have nice imagery, clear instructions, and a QR code so you can read the building instructions from a tablet or other device using the LEGO Life app. Within the LEGO Life app, for this set, you can download a pdf version of the instructions, as well as see an idea for an alternate build - more LEGO fun! For the included instruction booklet, all text is provided in English, French, and Spanish, and text showing how to get the LEGO Life app is shown in 9 to 10 languages. The instructions themselves, in usual LEGO style, are all pictures and symbols.

My five year old daughter asked to leave this review, so this is in her words: “My mom gave it to me. I love it so much; it’s hard to put together, but I love it just as much as I can, and I love the characters and how we can open and close the doors, and I love it so much, and it’s so awesome!
