> 3 dayIt is quiet enough the fan noise is not noticeable even within few feet of my head. The picture quality is good, but it is not a true 4K. Read the PDF manual which is linked from the web page. I purchased this to use as a PC monitor and needed full resolution, but it turns out the resolution has to be reduced for the best quality. The user interface is easy to use. It has a built-in TV turner which I dont see much use as most people probably use a separate streaming or cable box. The picture is not that bright and cannot be used in daylight. The room does not have to be dark, but it needs a dim room. It can be placed on a table, but ceiling mounting is the best to keep it out of the way. It needs to be horizontally centered at the lens (not the body) for the best focus because it only has vertical adjustment. This was a good starting projector at a reasonable price. I would go for the laser one the next time if I can afford it so that it can be used in daylight.

> 3 dayMajor problems with focus uniformity. Returned the first unit and received a replacement that has even worse problems with focusing. However nice the colors might be, a blurry 4K projector is a total waste of money.

> 3 dayThis projector REALLY wants to be your (antenna-wired) TV; it has no configuration options not to turn on into TV mode, and whether you have an antenna connected or not, will default to blasting the war of the ants at some high volume when turned on, unless or until you configure it to use a digital channel so it comes on all black instead. Its got a great 4k Amazon Prime and YouTube experience built in, and probably NetFlix too (though those guys charge a pretty dime for 4k-ness, so I wouldnt know), but has absolutely no support for other modern necessities like AirPlay 2, and no Apple TV+ content, unless you buy separate a 4k Apple TV to feed it through HDMI. Also no privacy-minded HomeKit support, so only google-spies-on-you voice control commands, if you feel like that kind of home intrusion in your personal habits. The video quality is terrific, and its got support for HDMI ARC on the first (but not second) HDMI port, so connecting your receiver through that, and the Apple TV on the other, you can at least get all three devices to wake and go to sleep together by just turning on the Apple TV behind it. Sadly it doesnt seem to automatically switch HDMI inputs when you initiate something at the Apple TV end if you were in the native YouTube, Amazon, or NetFlix app on the projector, nor did it seem to automatically tell my Blusound Powernode 2i receiver to switch to its HDMI ARC input for sound, so Ive had to do both of those things manually (via the remote in the first case, and Blusounds terrible app, in the second). Hard to tell which sides fault that is, though. You can get the projectors big remote to work natively with the AppleTV, but not if you use its default way of searching for a peripheral and telling it to set up an Apple set top box; you have to specifically override its defaults, tell the projector that it is connecting to a Game system, and then pick HDMI 2, and the two play ball. Fair enough; at least it works, even if its not quite elegant. If you try to watch movies in a warm room (upwards of 28C or 82F), itll occasionally complain with a dialog about the projector overheating, but it hasnt seemed to take damage from it yet, so its probably warning early enough for you not to have to get too scared about it, as long as you heed the warning and turn it off for a bit, or ventilate the space better. The air intake is on the right (lens) side, so leave a little room there, and the hot air exhaust on the opposite (left) side, so obviously also leave plenty of air gap there, so the warm air gets away from the projector rather than bathe it in its own exhaust. There is vertical keystone correction, but if you angle it side ways in any way, it wont be able to compensate, so you have to figure out a way to set it up in your space that wont angle the screen unpalatably. A good deal under $1500 around Thanksgiving/Black Friday, and a bit less of a great deal now that its back over $2k. On that budget, this was as good a projector as you can get in late 2020, but I hope theyll up their Apple AirPlay / HomeKit connectivity game for their upcoming models.

> 3 dayI cannot think of a bad thing to say about this projector. The input, picture and setup is really easy and very good. The build in Alexa and Android TV sells itself

> 3 dayThis is an excellent example of a smart projector with added bluetooth capability. The colors are very true and cinema mode plus HDR effect mode have great color effect. However, the contrast level is poor and dark scene details dissapear, which is disappointing for the price. Bluetooth should be standard on all projectors, and it is on this one, but the sound is delayed and choppy at times...I was really excited about the smart features, but the picture quality and bluetooth sound do disappoint. Sorry LG, lets get back and produce something that may compete with other 4K projectors on the dark scenes and for Gods sake please get up to speed with good working bluetooth...

Greater than one weekGreat picture but is difficult to see darker scenes in movies even with all the lights off. Love the smart TV feature. Extremely easy to set up. Spend the money for a higher quality projector screen though. Xfinity stream app does not download onto this device. I had to buy a Roku to use that app. Picture quality is better than my 55inch LG 4K tv in the other room.

> 3 daySet-up -To start, it asks for a lot of user permissions, like sharing your data. I declined everything. I have zero desire for a projector to share my data or listen to what I say. -It has a very wide viewing range. I have an 86 screen, and I had to move it somewhat close (about eight feet) to fit it to the screen. Projector -The picture is fantastic, and the colors are very vivid. I love to play video games on the projector; it feels more immersive. -I like that it has its own speakers. The sound is kind of flat, but its really nice to not have to have external speakers. It is also plenty loud, too. -The remote control has a pointer like a Wii remote and a scroll wheel. Theyre both good for navigating menus. It also has Netflix and Amazon Prime buttons. If you move it in the dark, the buttons light up. It is expensive, but it is a really good projector. I dont have any major complaints so far.

17-11-2024Ive had this projector for a couple days now and it has blown me away. I upgraded from an old optima hd20 because I wanted 4k hdr and this LG projector delivers both. As long as this projector gets the rated 30k hours usage, ill be completely satisfied. Setup was quick enough, I used an existing ceiling mount from my old projector. When I first turned HU70LA on, it recognized it was upside down and flipped the image automatically, that was a nice touch. Im projecting from about 15ft away onto a 133in screen and the image is plenty bright, even with some ambient light in the room things are still watchable. Something really noticeable, especially in HDR content is how vivid everything looks. The colors are really vibrant. The throw distance im using is about as far away from my screen as i can while not making the image too large for my screen. If you have a longer throw distance you are going to need a bigger screen. I did have to use the keystone alignment, it only adjusts vertically and not horizontally (but i only needed vertical keystone). LGs webOS is integrated just like their TVs. The magic remote is just that. Magic. I really like the motion control cursor and the smart features of the projector. I didnt think i would use them a lot, but it is just really convenient rather than turning on my xbox or apple tv. It is also really easy to have different image presets and swap between them (for example a gaming preset and then a movie preset) CEC works to turn on my receiver so with the one remote it is all I need if im streaming things from webOS. If you have used webOS on any of their recent tvs, no surprises here. its the same great experience. Normally i dont like the smooth motion image interpolation when watching tv or movies, but on a projector and screen this large ive become a quick fan. Everything about it just feels better. (Not for gaming though, only for video content consumption) Being able to play pc games at 1080p and 120hz is pretty amazing. One of the reason i selected this model was for pc gaming on a big screen and not having to sacrifice high refresh rate is absolutely awesome. The input lag on game mode (while im not sure what it is) was not noticeable to me. My only image complaint is the black levels arent super great. They are decent, but when you go watch something darker like Batman the dark knight or Mr Robot, i found I had to turn up the brightness setting on the projector to actually see details in the dark. Doing this washes out the image a little bit, but it still is a great improvement over my old projector. I just made a preset for darker things and switch to it when needed. It would also be nice if the power supply was internal so it used a normal plug to the projector from the wall rather than using a power brick, but i feel like that is really nitpicky. In my situation i just zip tied it to my ceiling projector mount arm and called it good. It isnt as clean as an install though as just plugging a cable directly from the outlet into the projector. Also wanted to make a quick note, make sure that you get cables rated for 4k@60hz (18Gbps). I first tried with an old high speed cable that was only rated for 4k@24hz (10.2Gbps) and I couldnt push 4k content to the projector. Just keep cabling in mind when getting a projector like this. EDIT: After using this projector for a little over a month I tried to get the Disney+ app on it but it is not supported. This projector is running webos 3 instead of 4 (you need 4 for the more recent channels like disney+). My LG TV bought in 2017 has been updated with webos 4 and can get Disney+ so im hoping that LG updates the projector as well at some point.
