> 3 dayI love the Litter Genie. It saves me a dozen trash bags a week, and makes the cats bathroom smells better. The cartridge has good enough design, and the pull down bags are thick and great quality. It takes a minute to remove the litter filled bag, and install the new one. The only complaint I have are the cartridges are a bit expensive. My cat is very active and produce a lot. So a genie cartridge definitely does not last two months. But thats not a flaw in the product itself. So I still give this a 5 star. Another thing I havent figure out is when the bag would run out. I dont keep track, or I lost track all the time. So I do cheat by using regular 13 gallon bags in the Litter Genie. Using the garbage bags is a good way to save, and its always well stocked at home (if not, grocery bags can be used though a bit short). But the garbage bags are much thinner, get caught in the divider sometimes, does not shield odor as well, and cost a few minutes to install. So I still purchase the refill cartridge from Amazon. Because Im not sure when the included bag would run out, I keep the empty cartridge ring and use it with garbage bags when I run out of included bags. Heres how I use the cartridge ring and included bags: Follow direction to install bag. Tie the bottom of the bag with a rubber band. Heres how I use garbage bags: Open up garbage bag. Install bag similar to original bag with the opening wrapped around the cartridge ring. Add a rubber band to secure garbage bag around the cartridge below the black top. One thing I do pay special attention to is when I install/remove bags on the Genie, I always wear disposable gloves. I remove litter and replace bags every week, but dont wash the Genie every week. Because theres no way to avoid litter coming into contact with the pail, I always try to play safe.

Greater than one weekSure the idea is slick. I have watched 3 people try to figure out how to use the Litter Genie refill and watch them have no clue. After head and butt scratching they can make it work. Once you know the tricks...hey it is pretty easy. Next on the agenda is that I dont know what the marketing department was smoking when they came up with cartridge lasts up to two months for one cat. Boy that is some creative marketing. My wife and I are still arguing about it but we *think* we got 5 refills out of the refill cartridge. Our one big girl kitty can do some major damage on that in about 3 weeks. OK so we get less than HALF the advertised amount. Side note and not included in the star rating is the fact that the litter genie we purchased will fall apart when you pick it up. There is a snap latch toward the bottom that is supposed to latch. Good luck with that. It doesnt engage with the slot at all. We checked the local store and all theirs were just like that. I have some experience with molded parts in consumer electronics and can honestly say these parts have problems and the company just got shipped them out the door. Quality control I think not. Hooray for us! So all in all while the whole shebang is a great idea the base is poorly executed and the greed glands were on high when they priced the refill cartridges. These are plastic sleeves folks not even zip lock bags. The point is you are paying an enormous amount for a sleeve to carry turds! I figure about $1.25 per time you empty the base. Yee haw! I will pursue another solution but this will have to do for now. Ironically I sent my wife out to get the competitors model and this is the one she brought home. Our neighbors have another brand and it works MUCH better. Dont know about lifespan of the refills or the price so keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that you get to tie a knot in the bottom of the bag to start using and a knot in the top of the bag to dispose. If you are a micro knot ninja you may also get more uses per refill. If you are normal maybe not so many. If the base were well made and the bags lasted about twice as long for the money I would have been happy.

> 3 dayI love that you can pull it out to any length wanted. Definitely holds the smell. Once you take it out & tie it up, you can smell the bag & cant smell poop. Yes I tried to smell cat poop. No other way to find out if it held odor as described lol. Im not good at tying knots in anything but my shoes so I use zip ties.

> 3 dayUsing the Litter Genie refills truly keeps in the odor even having a cat and 5 kittens. Does not have to taken out to the trash daily. I had him smell a walmart plastic bag with dirty litter and then smell the litter genie bag. He was truly shocked there was no odor even after I put it out on our back patio for an hour in the hot Arizona sun. Definitely highly recommend.

> 3 dayI bought a Pet Genie a few years ago after a friend raved about her Litter Genie. I loved it! I live in an apartment with 3+ dogs (I am also a dog trainer/sitter), and the dumpster is a good hike away, making it far easier to toss a bag of dog poo into a waste bin. And I have an elderly dog who uses pee pads. The genie contains all of the smell, and has seriously simplified my life. Then, suddenly the refills for the Pet Genie were getting harder and harder to find! I purchased a the Dooli adapter to use their bags, but just wasnt happy with it, and even tried garbage bags. After much deliberation I ordered a Litter Genie refill, and I am SO happy to find that it fits! Its the one that consistently contains the smell and is the easiest to dispose of.

> 3 dayBiggest issue is when I insert a new package. Last time, 2 rows of plastic came out at same time so only had 1/2 product to use. Every time I insert new pack, I have to read instructions. Should be easier. Very Convenient and efficient when/if inserted right.

> 3 dayI have been using the Genie for several years, but just in the past year the refills are becoming a chore to use. More than 50% of them are not set up correctly to find the open end of the bag to pull through. It is quite frustrating. Guess I should be returning them so I will start to do so, but they need to check their quality control or something, I may just give up on it and go back to using grocery bags. Please fix!

> 3 dayPrior to buying the Litter Genie Cat Litter Disposal System my wife and I resorted to saving plastic bags and eventually buying them by the roll. What we hated was how we had to immediately take the garbage out or somehow the next morning the whole house would stink no matter how tight we tied the bag. With the Little Genie, we simply scoop the litter into the Genie. When it fills (usually about 1-1.5 weeks) we simply open the case, pull some slack, use the built in cutter, tie a knot and take it out. Then we tie one more knot and its good to go for another week. We just added this to our subscribe and save so will be getting these automatically going forward.
