MagLite - ST3D016 Maglite LED 3-Cell D Flashlight, Black

Fool me once,shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me! I just finished throwing away my second MagLite ST3D016 3-D Cell Flashlight and now Im writing this review. I bought my first flashlight back in 2010 because I wanted something for walking on the beach at night. The MagLite was very bright, shines a great distance, and I also thought it would be for good self-defense if needed. I had no problems till my batteries needed to be replaced. I couldnt get them out! The batteries leaked acid and became welded to the inside. Because it was such a tight fit theres no way I could get them out. But I did love my MagLite so I bought an identical one. So now its been over a year with the new one and I see my light begin to dim so Im thinking I better change the batteries before they do the same thing. Too late! I couldnt even get the cap off. Not with any tool known to mankind. I go to the MagLite FAQ web page and someone else is asking what it means when they cant get the cap off and the answer is that the batteries have leaked and the cap is never coming off. MagLite says to contact the battery company since its a battery issue. Good luck with that. Ive learned my lesson. I love MagLites, but they are way too expensive to be a disposable flashlight. Youve been warned. If you buy one of these flashlights change the batteries every six months to be safe. I wont be buying another.

Very poor grounding system; does not work first time, every time, requires some adjustments to get light to come on and then it may go off while in use. Not the reliable old Maglite; dont bet your life on this one. By former law enforcement officer. March 31, 2010 - After some adjustments and some Wearing in I love the light ! I now believe its even better than the older bulb models, and yes, I am now betting my life on it when things go boom.
