Purchased three of these lights. Two for me and one for my father-in-law. These are really good LED flashlights that light up really well. Besides you cant go wrong with a MagLite flashlight.

If your looking for a bright light, this is not it. If your looking for a light you can pretty much do anything you want to and it will work, this is the light for you. Comparing directly to a 20 year old mag light its brighter then the halogen bulbs... Comparing to todays high lumen lights its just a bulky steel tube of a flashlight you can crack over someones head and it will still turn on. I am most impressed with the life, I was able to get 64 hours of light out of a cheap Walmart D battery set. For the 30 minutes of real life usage at a time,Im pleased with the comfort the batteries wont die on me.

I’ve owned this for a while for casual use. Reading reviews I was surprised to read of another having their batteries weld themselves inside the flashlight. I just experienced the same. It was sitting for an extended period but with Energizer batteries and indoors in my closet. The light worked but was noticeably dimmer. Time for new D batteries. To my surprise they didn’t want to come out. I was able to dig the first out confirming the batteries had corroded. I didn’t think the 2nd battery would ever come out. Figuring I had nothing to lose I applied some wd 40, waited, then beat the light incredibly hard against concrete. I was certain I’d damage it in this process. But I wanted that battery out. Finally the battery came out. New Ds wouldn’t fit back in. I had to scrape a couple pieces of something (battery parts, dried acid…) from inside the light. Cleaned it with a rag. New batteries. Works like new now. Not the brightest flashlight I have, but the beam has a good range. And I can’t believe it survived what I just put it through. That beating would have destroyed any other light source I have. — It is odd the batteries did that as it was in the house and not wet… Then I read that other review of batteries being stuck. Maybe coincidence? Maybe D batteries don’t like sitting in a metal tube? I plan to leave batteries sit in the light so it is ready when needed. Time will tell if this happens again.

I bought the Maglite 3-D Cell LED flashlight to use in the country over long distances. It is execellent. Before buying it I read a review that said another flashlight was better than the Maglite. I now own both and can say that the Maglite is better all-round. Beware false reviews.

This thing is fantastic. Exceptionally bright, has that murder weapon in-hand kind of weight, its a maglite through and through.

This flashlight is nice and bright. My favorite part is that is is large and heavy enough that when I walk the dog alone at night, I feel somewhat protected with something that can be used somewhat for defense. ;D

Maglite LED 3-Cell D Flashlight, Black

Like many other manufacturers, Mag Instrument has expanded its line of flashlights to include models featuring LED-type bulbs. Why? LEDs are virtually unbreakable, and they are far more efficient than incandescent bulbs. As the product name suggests, this Maglite runs on 3 D-type batteries, which will take a while to run out thanks not only to the LEDs but also to Mag Instrument"s "Intelligent Energy Source Management," which balances high brightness against extended battery life. The bright, powerful beam adjusts from spot to flood simply by rotating the head. The case is made from a high-strength aluminum alloy that has been anodized inside and out, which gives you water- and shock-resistance in a lightweight package. High-quality O-rings at both openings keep water away from the batteries. In other words, this energy-efficient flashlight is almost indestructible--a good quality when it comes to the tools. Limited lifetime warranty. Batteries not included.--Josh Dettweiler
