I love these calipers. These are accurate and come in a solid case for storage. Ive made the mistake of buying cheap calipers in the past and finally I did the right thing and bought a pair of these Mitutoyos. Japanese quality!

It’s been over a year since I purchased my calipers and they’ve held up greatly. Within half a thousandth accuracy repeatedly just making sure I’m straight and not canted is the difference and used micrometers to double check and usually within .0001” to .00005” and held up to the coolant droplets and shavings of metal that I constantly wipe off to measure.

I was hesitant to buy these because there are so many fakes out there. But after a lot of research (well 30 minutes and 3 sites worth) these are the real deal. Sold and shipped by Amazon is also a certified retailer of authentic mitutoyo calipers. They should come with an sr44 battery and the battery itself should say sr44 not just the packaging. The fakes reportedly have lr44. It should have yellow tag around the know and come in a sealed plastic bag. All around these fill flawless. Originally I thought spending 140 on calipers was absurd especially since my need for them doesnt require .0000 accuracy. But the over all quality of these is unmatchable. Prior to these I was using the igaging calipers. Wont go back

What is there to say? Mitutoyo is the gold standard. This was my first caliper, and I immediately checked its accuracy (perfect within the limits of what I can check). Ease of use is excellent: measuring inside, outside, or depth; metric or imperial; absolute or relative. The case is rugged and convenient. Unlike other calipers, this one doesnt devour batteries (solar obviously doesnt use batteries at all but does require that it sit out in strong light and is considerably more expensive). BE SURE TO BUY FROM AMAZON. Do NOT buy from a third party through Amazon. There are simply too many counterfeits floating around. Amazon is an authorized dealer and so your caliper will be genuine (other reviews on here will help you ensure authenticity when it arrives). This was the best deal I could find from a legit source. There are purists who want dial or vernier, and thats fine, but for a first caliper you want something that does imperial and metric and is a no-brainer to operate. My only critique is that Amazon doesnt make it easy to find genuine accessories. In my case, the shoulders for depth measurements. There are other very reputable brands out there, but for this product Mitutoyo is the default unless you have some compelling reason to grab something else.

This caliper is well worth the money. I had some other brands, but they never last. You can not go wrong with Mitutoyo.

I bought two other calipers prior to these. What a waist of money. I did watch a thirty-four minute video on You Tube before purchasing that showed how to tell the real Mitutoyo from the counterfeit. These are real, and awesome.

I bought this for my silver jewelry making. This one is so much nicer than my old one the only thing missing from this one is the fraction function that I have on my old one has but that’s minor in comparison. I will never use any other caliper, I also payed the extra money for the piece of mind and got the calipers with the certificate of calibration.

The Mitutoyo 500-196-30 digital caliper has a 0 to 6" (0 to 150mm) measuring range with 0.0005" (0.01mm) increments for precision and an advanced onsite sensor (AOS) electromagnetic inductive sensor for resistance to dirt, oil, and water. Its digital readout LCD shows inch or metric units for versatility, and allows either absolute or incremental measurement readings. The electronic caliper measures inside, outside, depth, and step values for versatility and includes a protective case and SR44 silver oxide battery.

Digital calipers are measuring instruments commonly used for inspection in manufacturing to provide the precise measurements of an object. A pair of jaws attached to a long beam with a marked scale is used to take inside, outside, and step measurements. An additional depth probe slides along the beam to take depth measurements. One jaw is fixed to the end of the scale, while the other jaw slides along it with gearless precision to take measurements. The reading is electronically generated and displayed on a digital, high-resolution screen as a single value. Digital calipers can take differential measurements, which are used to determine the difference in measurements between two objects, by zeroing the display at any point along the scale. Some digital calipers can switch between standard and metric units, and some can output readings to a computer or printer for recording measurements. Compared to dial calipers, digital calipers provide measurements that are faster, easier, and more error-free, but they are more fragile mechanically and electronically, and do not resist coolant well. Vernier calipers are more durable than digital calipers because they do not have internal moving parts, but they can be more difficult to read. Digital calipers are commonly used in fields such as metalworking, mechanical engineering, machining, carpentry, and medicine.

Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and related systems. The company, founded in Tokyo in 1934, formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963 with headquarters in Aurora, IL.
