> 24 hourGenuine part, restored the hot water to my 1970 Moen shower valve. I got a used returned item that did not have the retainer clip, I dont know whether the first person stole it or if it wasnt included but it ought to be included.

> 24 hourUpdate: A few days later...After using the 1200 caetrage, o have noticed that if you want to reduce the water pressure by pushing it in some (with it connected to the Moen shower knob) it starts to make a very loud sound that radiates through the metal pipes. The original caetrage did not do this, as id often use about half the water pressure while washing and then would increase it when rinsing, and the original caetrage was quite regardless of how much water you adjusted it to by pulling or pushing it in. But this all brass 1200 makes a lot of noise unless you have it pulled all the way out with no water being restricted. Once you start to push it in some to reduce the water pressure, the sound gets louder and louder. I was thinking that its because the brass of the cartridge is vibrating against the metal valve assembly. So I decided to try the 1225 model cartridge since the outside is plastic. Today I took out the brass 1200 and put in the plastic 1225. That right there solved the problem. Now I can use it and like before and push it in to reduce the water pressure without any resistance noise coming from it or the pipes. So Ill be using the 1225 instead. Just have to see how long it will last. Originally review: The main headache is having to use a cartridge remover to remove the old one. Mine was Ori from when this house was built in 1986, and over the past year its been harder to turn the shower water knob and now it wont entire turn off (water still comes out some). So I had to replace the cartridge. I went with the 1200 model since it was all brass and not any plastic like the 1225. After I got the original one out, it actually had some plastic on it, though it was never replaced. The new 1200 all brass one looked much better quality. Got it installed and tested it out. Now you can adjust the temp knob with one finger it moves so easily. I just hope it last almost 37 years like the original.

> 24 hourThe package containing cartridge had been opened. The plastic cap to ease installation as shown on the directions was missing. Also the retaining clip was missing. Contacted Moen and the only response I received was a call back for next week. Will upgrade rating after installing cartridge. UPDATE. Contacted Moen and they sent out the missing part. Would recommend they add to the product description that the retaining clip is not included. Had to purchase locally. Cartridge installed just fine and is working great.

> 24 hourBought the moen 1200 brass cartridge mid August for a stall shower. Although I have good home repair skills, took a while to get up the nerve to start . (have read about cartridges coming out but leaving outer body in place.) Using the cartridge puller, job went well; quick and easy. HOWEVER, the shower in full hot position provides a very strong flow. As you you rotate knob to cold, the flow starts to reduce at about the 12 o,clock position. At a comfortable water temp position the flow is barely enough to wet yourself. At full cold position it,s a bare trickle. Removed shower head to ensure problem was not there. Same reduced flow problem. Would be glad to change this to 5 stars if someone tells me if I somehow incorrectly installed unit. Update -I should have written earlier. Turns out a small piece of plastic had broken off the old cartridge and remained in place. Found out when I forget to turn off water while removing the cartridge and the piece flew out under pressure. Would now rate myself 1 star and the cartridge 5 stars.

> 24 hourIm thinking this might be regular maintenance item, kind of like replacing spark plugs in car motor, to avoid having problems with them sticking in the block...eventually you need to do it to keep them from seizing ...likewise, mineral deposits will eventually make removing the cartridge from the fixture difficult...I waited a bit too long, and had to use something like a pry bar setup to get the old cartridge out (scary since you dont want to cause leak inside wall where fixture is located) since it took some force to get our the old one...next time Ill plan to replace every other year or so (it had been several years since I last did it)...so good to keep some on hand to replace regularly is probably a good idea, as these are probably cheaper to buy than to pay for plumber if they get stuck and you need external help.
