> 3 dayIm sure different people have their preferences, but I always felt 12G was what I wanted, long term for my sitting room speakers. I chose Monoprice 250ft cos of the length (to reach the two back speakers). And I wasnt disappointed, thick but flexible and solid. Looks like the kind of wire that will last for ages, which is important for me because I plan to upgrade my speakers say in 2 years time, but Id rather not have to rewire when that time comes. Especially because I had to wire into ceilings and walls to keep the setup neat.

> 3 dayAt the time that I bought this 250 spool of 12AWG oxygen-free copper (not copper-clad aluminum) wire a year or 2 ago, it was the absolute best price I could find. As a matter of fact, I believe it was cheaper than other brands 14AWG OFC wire anywhere else. So the value is great. As for the wire gauge being true to size, I believe it is, or extremely close to it. Ive bought wire from multiple sellers/brands in the past, and a lot of times they advertise their wire one or two AWG sizes larger than it truely is. Due to that, I needed 14AWG wire but ordered 12AWG to make up for any upscaled false advertising. Regardless, this wire ended up being pretty true to size or very close to it. I used this to connect 4 big custom speaker enclosures that I hung in the upper corners of our 3-stall garage/shop. I still have some left that I occasionally use for automotive purposes, and I usually cut/pull the white loom/sheathing off first. However if you do remove that white sheathing, I dont recommend using it in a place that will either rub other objects that could wear through the insulation from vibration or movement, or melt through from heat. The wires have a thinner, cheaper insulation. I also dont really recommend using it in outdoor areas, and that includes on vehicles in engine bays or exteriors, because it wouldnt be as protective against the outside elements. The copper will likely oxidize much sooner in those applications. For indoor speaker wiring applications, its great.
