Motorola MoCA Adapter for Ethernet Over Coax, Plug and Play, Ultra Fast Speeds, Boost Home Network for Better Streaming and Gaming (1 Gbps – MoCA 2 Pack)

> 3 dayI installed Netgear Orbi RBK-50 in my home and detached garage. I wanted a wired backhaul between the 2 units but only had coax between the buildings. The Motorola MoCA adapters work perfectly. I’m getting the 400Mbps I’m paying for anywhere on my acre. No reason to doubt the adapters could handle Gigabit Ethernet, though I haven’t tried it.

Greater than one weekMy mind was blown when I realized MoCA is really just a fancy way of running ethernet over coaxial cable without impacting Cable Internet or TV service on the same line. My cable router sits down stairs above my fireplace and my office is in an awkward spot above the garage on the opposite side of the house. Ive essentially been running two separate networks and have been connecting my office network to the downstairs network using a TP-link wireless repeater acting as a Bridge due to the WIFI signal from downstairs being bad and running ethernet cable is impossible because the office ceiling is right up against the shingles (no roof crawl space). The quality has always been meh. There is an existing coax connector in the office (and bedroom) which I assumed was strictly for TV. After researching MoCA I realized that I already have a hard line down to the Cable router in the form of the Coaxial cable already in the walls. Using these devices Ive converted ethernet to coax and back to ethernet again and now have a hardline to the rest of the network. Ive done speedtests and iperfs and can confirm I get full gigabit across these two device. ***One thing to note is that you cant change the default IP addresses of the MoCA adapters from 192.168.0.2 to anything else. This caused a bit of an issue for me because my pihole used to be on that address so I would get MAC address flaps between pihole and the MoCA adapter. Simple solution was to change piholes address. Ive attached a network diagram for clarity on my use case, hopefully it can help someone else have an ah ha moment

Greater than one weekMy situation is a bit unusual. I have Spectrum Internet and they used to offer MOCA compatible modems, in my case a Technicolor TC8715D (cable modem / router) with an ActionTec WCB6200Q (MOCA end point), but have recently stopped supporting their activation codes and the entire family of MOCA modems is being removed from their rental equipment line-up. If youre like me and already have the account and hardware, then Spectrum will grandfather you in as long as you dont change any services. So I needed another end point, Spectrum couldnt provide it and pushed hard for me to stop using MOCA and defer to using WI-FI as a replacement. As if WI-FI is good enough to replace the coaxial cable... (seriously dumb technical advice from a service provider that delivers digital information via coaxial connection). In a vain attempt at avoiding the purchase of my own Cable Modem with MOCA support, I thought I would give these puppies a try. They work flawlessly with the TC8715D. I have had no issue what so ever and the MOCA endpoints are extremely fast and result in communication pings around around 68ms average compared to 88ms average over good WI-FI.

03-12-2024Over $400 in the latest router and extender and I finally discover MoCa. I was covering 4 floors in an old stone row house with Wifi that was not always adequate. Most of my streaming and gaming was done on the 3rd floor. Even with the latest tech and extenders I was lucky to get between 20-60mps down and 10 up. I now average 710mps down and 60 up on the 3rd floor with the Motorola MoCa installed. Installation instructions were not great but picked up what needed via YouTube tutorials. Nothing wrong with good WiFi but this should be in every home.

> 3 dayI used this product to add a wireless access point in my pool house (which is 150+ feet away from my main WIFI router) using the existing coax cable lines. The product was easy to install. I now have 50 Mbs access (which is the Max I get from the cable internet provider) where I had little or no WIFI signal before.

28-11-2024Very easy to install. Save time on trying to run rj45 cables around the house. It is not cheap but if the product last long time then I am OK with that.

03-12-2024Seemed expensive for what I needed. We were just running on empty coax, no other signals present. They were plugged in and they worked, with 0 loss of internet speed from the modem. The cost is why not 5 star.

> 3 dayIt works great! I thought I need 2 though after looking on line before buying. The first page of the manual says you just need 1 if you already have Verizon. I thought that was the case but didnt want to be SOL. The 2nd was beneficial though. I was able to set up a 2nd wifi router in a dead zone of the house. My ethernet speeds are great still!

Greater than one weekBought a new house that has a separated pool house and needed a way to get the network to the second building. The pool house was already wired for cable tv running undergound from the main house so I figured I would buy one of these and set up a Wifi Extender in the pool house attached to this. The install was super easy (plug and play really) and once all setup it works great! I have used Ethernet over powerline items before and this just blew the speed and reliability of those right out of the water. I liked it so much I ended up buying another pair to install a wifi extender into the master bedroom just to save the hassle of running Ethernet wire. (Speeds have been consistent at 800mbps to 900mbps which makes sense given the length of the run.)

> 3 dayIf you leave in heavy wifi area and your ping sucks, but you have tv cables in the walls of your house/apartment this will save you money and nerves. Speed between these is about 800Mbps(which is a lot) and most important its latency almost the same as ethernet. Installation is a piece of cake - just connect a pair of cables. It comes with all necessary cabling too.
