Greater than one weekIve been a Dragon user for years, so - when the new release came out - I purchased it and upgraded. It has been a disappointment -- the new Dragon bar at the top of the screen expands whenever I scroll near it, and I find the software is a lot less responsive online (I grade papers in Google Classroom, and the new version has a very difficult time recognizing online documents as text fields). After a few frustrating hours of trying to make it work, I uninstalled and tried to roll back to version 12. Unfortunately, I needed to then do a clean install and cant find the disk. I went to Nuance, figuring since I registered the product I should be able to download a clean copy and reinstall but they have no download area, and wanted me to send them ten bucks for a replacement disk. So, looks like Im moving over to Google voice to text... a real shame, after some six years of using Dragon.

> 3 dayI purchased 13.0 because 12.5 dose not work with Windows 10. I tried to install 12.5 when I got my new computer and it wouldnt install. I called support at Nuance. Sorry does not work w W-10. Dont you have an update to make 12.5 work w W-10? No you have to buy 13.0. Grrr! I purchased 13.0. This program is very time consuming to install. Finally got it installed along with my profile from 12.5. Make sure to save your voice profile if you are upgrading. There is a huge learning curve with this program. But after training it recognizes most words. I use it mostly for word dictation. I dont try to dictate the commands. Way too confusing. It is a great help in doing my rough drafts very quickly.

> 3 daySpent over three hours trying to get it to work. Found a telephone number thru Google and made two calls to tech service. This was very disappointing. I told them the earphones and mic were defective They ran me through all the start up aND STILL THE MIC WOULD NOT WORK. They then told me my sound card was defective. I purchased a new mic and earphones and the first time I tried it. It worked great. No wonder they dont put their telephone number anywhere in their package. Their tech service is terrible.

> 3 dayLove this program. Exactly what I needed and expected. Installed onto my 8.1 Windows without any fuss or hick ups. Runs smoothly.Though I use my Logitech Wireless, It did come with a pretty sturdy wired headset of its own. Good to know if I ever need a back up its there. Fast and precise. Mainly bought for score to make essays and reports a breeze and yet Im able to instantly note any random thought, spontaneous idea, or random rhyme that may come to mind. Hides almost unnoticed at the top of your screen and blooms out when you need it. If you want a hands free service for school, business or just pleasure then this is what you need. Favorite Perk: All around fast program.

> 3 dayOk, I can dictate, and it types what I have dictated. Sort of. If that were the only issue, I would probably provisionally rate it 3 stars since it is still learning my voice recognition. BUT -- Nuance is the absolute #1 poster child for corporate greed. I paid for my user license, only to learn that if I want to use it on my laptop while on the road, I cant since I have already installed it on my desktop. Never mind that I cant/wont be using the two at the same time (i.e., only one user at any one time, period), they want me to buy another license. But wait, theres more... I only need the basic Home version of DNS for the limited purposes I put it to (simple dictation translation due to physical disability). So if I bite the bullet and pay for a second license, I can sync my user profile between the two machines so that I dont have to train the second machine from the beginning (which is called reinventing the wheel), right? WRONG!!! Not with the Home version; this functionality only begins with the premium version (twice the cost, more or less). Never mind that the added cost to Nuance to include this functionality would be maybe 39¢ or so (total, not per copy, electrons are cheap). So now Im up to 4x the original cost, and they did not disclose this in the promo material for the program. Can anyone say, Class action? Are you listening, Nuance? And customer service? Dont ask. The simple fact of the matter is that unless you are into feeding corporate greed or (like me with my physical disability) have no other options, steer clear of these money-grubbing jerks.

Greater than one weekI am so grateful for this product! I bought it on July 6th, 2017 and sporadically trained my dragon over the next month, though it didnt take much time for dragon and I to understand each other. At 45 years old, I went back to college... I did not know where going back to college would lead me because I really didn’t plan to be there. My retirement came early due to a disability caused by an hereditary motor-sensory nerve disorder, Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT). I was comfortable raising children and sending them off to college. Being complacent with life as it was, I couldn’t foresee anything changing. It wasn’t until I fatefully ended up at the college orientation for my boyfriend (who was going back to college for additional welding certificates), did I realize that I could strive for a better future for myself and my family. Going back to school changed my path andupended my complacency. But I was worried. Prior to CMT, I typed 122 wpm, after CMT I can still type 60ish wpm, but that is only if I am looking directly at the keyboard. If I take my eyes off the keyboard it is incoherant, because I can no longer feel the keys. Using Dragons talk-to-text technology allows me to type fast without mistakes, without frustration, and without additional strain on my atrophying fingers/hands/wrists. I am happy to announce, that after 5 semesters I graduated with 2 associate degrees in Marketing and Entrepreneurship, while earning Scholastic awards for both for having the highest GPA for both. 46 years old, disabled and 4.0 GPA... Heck ya!!! At graduation I looked like Michael Phelps up there with all my medals! Id also like to note: The headset that comes in the box gave me an awful headache, but so do most headbands, so I am very glad that I bought the bundle that included the Koss CS100 Speech Recognition Computer Headset. Furthermore, I bought, but never read the book The Writers Guide to Training Your Dragon: Using Speech Recognition Software to Dictate Your Book and Supercharge Your Writing Workflow (Dictation Mastery for PC and Mac). I personally didnt need it, but others might.

> 3 daythis is a good option if you have trouble typing . the out of the box accuracy is very good. On the negative side, I have outlook 2010 and windows 7 and the dragon software is totally messing up my outlook and visa versa about every other day. you have to shut down the system, disable add-ins, stop tasks that are frozen using the task manager and all sorts of magical thinking types of activity to get things back on track. then it happens again. Also, if you discover that you are having problems running programs that worked before after you installed Dragon, it is dragon . My advice. call the tech line at nuance early and often. They provide free support for the first couple of weeks, after that, you are on your own with a computer that is quite idiosyncratic. Like I said, good option if you cant type.

> 3 dayIve been a happy user of earlier versions but after my laptop updated itself to windows 10, I found myself forced to buy version 13.0. Purported to be a great improvement, I was sold, but Ive not yet gotten it to work. After the install, I went through the microphone preparation and launched Word. The supplied headset was used. Not a single word was understood. Nothing. Frustrated, I eventually did a clean install only to get an error message that some training directory could not be renamed. Installed again without trouble. Still didnt understand a single word. Switched mics. Nope. Decided to use my wifes brand new i-7 laptop with 16GB. Installed fine but still didnt understand a single word. I reached out to tech support and got a couple suggestions. No good. Reached out again and got a suggestion to check the settings. After 3 laptops, 3 mics, and multiple attempts at setting default mic, sound card settings, hardware acceleration, etc, Ive given up. Fortunately, I found an old laptop and installed version 12.0 on it. It works flawlessly. My new laptop? I use Windows speech recognition. While not as robust as Dragon, it isnt half bad. My only regret is that I tried to upgrade to new and improved. Im beginning to think there might be an error on my disc. Nothing but trouble for me.

Greater than one weekEDITED_It is working now. It took a total of 6 hours and deleting and reinstalling it three times for it to finely work. Good product just way to difficult to get to work. I suggest 1 it needs to take less then 4 gb of space and it needs to load faster. I think this product could be better. IT IS NOT WORKING. After five hours of fighting with this it is not working. My mic works. My mic works on the computer. I hear my self from the mic. I go through the dang profile thing and when it says to test your mic and I go to turn on Dragons button it stays red and not green. It will not work.

> 3 daySoftware works great on my Lenovo laptop running Windows 7. Completely different story on my desktop running Windows 10. It simply will not run. Icon is on the desktop but when I double click the little circle spins for a few seconds and nothing happens. It appears the installation does not complete because I have never gotten to the point where I read the paragraph to set up my user profile, like I did on my Windows 7 laptop. Nuance contacted me and sent installation instructions which I followed with no solution. A Google search resulted in several other suggestions, still with no success. The Google search revealed many users of Windows 10 having problems. I have uninstalled and installed the software 8 additional times - even copied the CD to my desktop. Ive given up on using the software on my Windows 10 computer.
