Permatex 22058 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease, 3 oz. Tube

Product is as described. I only needed to replace a single spark plug, and found that this is priced almost exactly the same as the little one-use packet that you generally pick up on your way out of an autoparts store (because you forgot to grab the 2-3oz bottle off the shelf) Product works as it should. I had no problems, and now the next 300 times I need Dielectric grease for anything. I certainly have some. Bottle seals well, is not prone to being punctured. I suggest keeping some of this around if this is a common task that you perform on your vehicles-- or if you have other electronic uses!

Dielectric grease as youd expect. Similar appearance, feel and thickness as petroleum jelly. I think some people think that you use dielectric grease to increase conductivity in circuits. It has the opposite effect. Dielectric means that it slows or stops the flow of electrons. The purpose is to keep unsealed wires and connectors from getting corroded when exposed to the elements. The dielectric keeps oxidation or galvanic corrosion from occurring. That oxidation or corrosion could eventually case the circuit to fail, so dielectric grease has the effect of preserving electrical connections. It is also a waterproofer to keep the circuit dry and a lubricant to help fit connectors together (like sliding a tight spark plug wire over the spark plug). A little goes a long way.

Pay attention to the item around the sealed plastic. Its crooked and looks like someone resealed it then resold to me. Update: Decided to get the bigger sized version (2nd pic) and I get another opened item. Unbelievable! Pls stop reselling items as new thats been opened.

Moisture, salt spray, and salt fog are killers for any electrical parts. The longer metal conducting parts can be protected from the elements the longer they will last.

If you do any kind of electrical connections, especially on a vehicle, this is a must have

My main use for this was for the contact points on the 7-pin connector for my trailer. It also gets used occasionally for other electric contact points like battery terminals and bulbs and such. And since its Permatex it does what its made for.
