Permatex 22058 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease, 3 oz. Tube

> 3 dayRead the other reviews, many people cite the cheap, broken cap. Once the cap breaks, you have a messy tube that gets everywhere. The product itself is great, the packaging is the problem. Are you listening Permatex? Dielectric grease has many great uses and this brand performs as good as any. It only requires a VERY SMALL AMOUNT to seal electric connections or to lubricate o-rings or other rubber things. The 2,000 reviews should convince you of this: almost every one says this is enough to last me forever. I previously had a 0.33oz tube that I used for over 10 years of lots of work on cars, house, etc. Like others here, I thought, its only a couple bucks more for this big tube. Turns out that was a complete waste of the extra couple bucks. And the six-pack? Unless you manage an electronics assembly plant, there is no normal human on this earth that can use 18oz of delectric grease in their lifetime. STUPID CAP My cap didnt even crack like many others. It was even stupider. The top of the cap has a little poker molded into it that I guess is used to stab the foil seal on the tube the first time you use it. Little tubes of crazy glue have this too. I didnt use that, I used ANY pointy tool like any every other person that works on things. Breaking that little seal is not a problem that I need solved. And if you do use it for that, good luck getting the grease out of the recess in the cap. TO MANUFACTURERS OF REPAIR PRODUCTS THAT COME IN TUBES: a cap that works and preserves the product is far more valuable than a messy little poker that can literally be replaced with almost any pointy household object: key, pencil, paperclip, screwdriver, you get the idea, anyone requiring dielectric grease will have something like this within reach 100% of the time when they open a new tube once every 10-20 years. Anyway, that little pointer broke off somehow down in the cap, leaving a big hole in the cap that the grease oozes out of. Its like having no cap at all. I used no more than 0.1 oz of the whole tube, now its in the trash. This product is VERY EXPENSIVE when you divide the total cost by the amount you will actually be able to use. Keeping this in a bag is not an option for anyone that does any amount of work requiring dielectric grease--every time you put your hand in that bag, you will grease all over your hands and have to stop what youre doing to clean the grease off your hands because its impossible to work on things that slide out of your hands. WHY SUCH A BIG RANT OVER THIS MUNDANE PRODUCT? I dont mind spending money to buy things I need, but I do hate wasting money. I hate it even more when money is wasted because of some companys cost-saving measure (or pure ignorance) that makes its own product unusable. Hey Permatex, it literally can not cost you more than 1 CENT to provide a durable cap that will last as long as the tube. The epitome of being penny wise and pound foolish. WOULD YOU BUY THIS TUBE IF IT DIDNT COME WITH A CAP? Of course not, that would be crazy. Im just here letting you know that that is what youre doing. Buy the small tube. It is enough for 98% of people here. And the small tube has a cap that works.

Greater than one weekWanted to ensure good electrical contacts in RV electrical. This dielectric grease is exactly what I needed. Small tube, but enough to do the job (you dont need a lot), and easy to carry in limited RV storage.
